Southern New Hampshire University is seeking an Accessibility Analyst. The Accessibility Analyst will play a critical role in assisting the SNHU information technology organization (ITS) make continual improvements in the accessibility of the technical assets within ITS’ responsibility. The Accessibility Analyst will provide technical support and consultation to Information Technology Solutions (ITS) and the other university organizations related to digital accessibility. The primary goal of this position is to help ITS staff and the university with acquiring; selecting, developing and conducting training; assisting teams with assessing and reporting; and, in general, supporting Electronic & Information Technologies (EIT) that are accessible to all members of SNHU’s community of users, regardless of disability, age, or other factors related to the access and use of digital information and interactions.The Accessibility Analyst will play a critical role in assisting the SNHU information technology organization (ITS) make continual improvements in the accessibility of the technical assets within ITS’ responsibility. Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

Consult with ITS staff to support monitoring and/or mitigating EIT for accessibility, providing guidance on appropriate accessibility testing tools and interpreting test results
Consult with ITS and business units on best practices and impacts to EIT accessibility across digital content creation, visual/UX design, software and platform configuration, technical development, and testing
Manage the reporting of EIT accessibility compliance for all of ITS, and consult with the individual platform and application teams on platform/application level assessment and reporting
Recommend potential resources or solutions to address accessibility barriers based on WCAG 2.x AA and Revised 508 compliance standards
Curate and/or develop accessibility training
Provide training on EIT accessibility and universal design (online, instructor led, other)
Perform accessibility reviews for EIT acquisitions, including Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) review and interpretation
Support the development, collection of and reporting on EIT accessibility key performance indicators (KPI’s) for ITS EIT and stakeholder reporting
Develop accessibility awareness among SNHU stakeholders, increasing their ability to identify opportunities for delivering more accessible experiences to SNHU users
Participate in the development and refinement of the proposed direction for ITS accessibility operations

Minimum Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience in one of the following fields: user experience, web development, technical support, academic support, vendor management, technical customer support, teaching, assistive technology, digital or user interface design, software development, quality assurance, or accessibility
Experience using, designing, testing and/or developing with HTML, CSS, browsers, common mobile or desktop operating systems, and general web-based technologies
Experience using various document/content authoring tools: Adobe PDF, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office products, including O365, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Experience coaching and training professionals
Willingness to master a working knowledge of current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.x AA
Willingness to develop a working knowledge of relevant accessibility and disability laws, standards, and regulations, including ADA, Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Revised 508 standards
Willingness to develop a working knowledge of user experiences and impacts to accessibility for users of assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, braille displays, assistive learning tools, closed captioning, and more
Ability to establish effective working relationships
Strong sense of empathy and desire to help others succeed
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, both orally and in writing
Certification or comparable experience in web design and development, human-computer interaction, computer science, or related fields
Commitment to learning, collaboration, customer experience, and organizational success

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity and/or experience with front-end / web development
Familiarity and/or experience with accessibility testing tools or other kinds of testing tools
Familiarity and/or experience with content remediation
Familiarity and/or experience with user experience in the contexts of software, web, or similar digital development
Familiarity and/or experience with accessibility audits and reporting
Familiarity and/or experience with assistive technologies

Work Hours:

Typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with flexibility to meet business demands as needed.
