Software implementation, support, and development
Secure access to institutional information
Database development and administration
Data interfaces
Document Management
Workflow solutions
Business Process analysis and improvements
Consultation with DU departments on software development or purchase
Data Warehouse administration, reporting, and data mining
Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, and Dashboards
Application configuration and support
Intranet Web and Mobile Development
IT/EAS ensures the current and future software applications are efficient and effective, maintains an appropriate balance between leading-edge activities and core business processes, and provides appropriate information access and data security.

IT/EAS is responsible for all aspects of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Database Management, Data Warehouse administration, Information Analytics (BI), Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Student Recruitment CRM; Student Success CRM; and Advancement CRM, Learning Management System (LMS), Document Management and Workflow.

Position Summary

The Digital Accessibility Specialist will be a part-time, non-benefited position and will report to Assistant Vice Chancellor, IT/Enterprise Application Services (IT/EAS).

The Digital Accessibility Specialist is primarily responsible for assessing and improving the accessibility of software interfaces, websites, and online applications. The Digital Accessibility Specialist will be a critical member of the University’s digital accessibility working group that has been tasked with hiring an external consultant to conduct a complete accessibility audit; and develop policies, guidelines, and minimum accessibility standards for software applications and websites.

This is a part-time, non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

Help coordinate digital accessibility audits and reporting with an external audit consultant.
Assess and improve the accessibility of software interfaces, websites, and online applications. Collaborate with University partners to ensure that technology-based tools and resources are accessible to and usable by all individuals, particularly individuals with disabilities, who participate in the University’s programs, services, and activities.
Evaluate vendor products for accessibility by persons with disabilities, and contribute to information technology procurement processes. Confer with vendors, buyers, and department representatives; identify accommodation solutions when access problems are identified in selected software.
Develop, maintain, implement, and consult regarding digital accessibility technologies, policies, standards, and best practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General understanding of digital accessibility best practices and ADA regulations.
Strong working knowledge and experience with assistive technologies, including screen readers, screen magnifiers, and speech-to-text applications.
General understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).
Extensive knowledge with WCAG accessibility standards and guidelines.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence, policies, and technical procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Attention to detail is critical.
Work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize and organize a high volume of work.
Ability to use intuition and apply knowledge from previous experiences.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in web development/design, information technology, computer science, human-computer interaction, or other related fields or equivalent combination of education and work experience as a digital accessibility specialist.
1-3 years of experience user testing applications and websites for accessibility.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with WCAG accessibility standards and guidelines.
Experience with digital accessibility audit and quality assurance tools and processes.
Experience with web accessibility testing tools like Siteimprove.
Experience in higher education working environment.
Work Schedule
