We are looking for an experienced accessibility specialist for evaluation and conformance testing for Department of State websites, web applications, and software. Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, is detailed and organized, and is able to work independently with minimal guidance from senior management.

Clearance: Interim Secret (to Start) upgraded to Secret
Work Expectations: Hybrid 2-3 days onsite/3-2 days remote (flexibility required to work 5 days onsite, occasionally/as needed)

Clearance: Interim Secret needed to start Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and test websites, web apps, and software for accessibility.
Provide feedback to clients on testing results and provide remediation options.
Attend stakeholder meetings to discuss project status, offer insight to processes and team practices, and field questions regarding accessibility testing, criteria, regulations, and requirements.
Actively participate in accessibility programs such as webinars, training sessions, and other Department and government-wide efforts.
Offer input in new accessibility program and policies in order to improve accessibility across the Department and to advance policy initiatives for eliminating barriers to accessible ICT.
Provide excellent customer service and client support experience, specifically with imparting results and reporting on documented findings.
Adhere to Section 508 accessibility standards when producing reports and documentation for team use and for client deliverables.
Utilize excellent research, planning, and organization skills, with the superior ability to manage changing and competing priorities under strict timelines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Knowledge and Experience

Candidates are required to have proven experience with:

Understanding and having thorough knowledge of Federal Accessibility laws, regulations, polices, and practices.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA (2.1 Level AAA preferred).
Working with and managing accessibility testing, audits, and remediation.
Staying current on best practices for delivering in-person, virtual, and hybrid trainings, and evaluate the Division's training platform functionality, making recommendations for changes to licenses as warranted.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

3+ years of experience Section 508 compliance testing webpages, web-applications, software, and documentation
Familiarity with HTML5 and CSS
Trusted Tester v.5 Certified
Efficient operating M365, Chrome, Edge, and Teams
Project management software, such as Jira or Microsoft Project
Ability to use at least three of the following: JAWS/JAWSInspect, WAVE web extension, Microsoft Accessibility Insights, ANDI, SortSite, Color Contrast tools, and/or TextHelp Read&Write (other tools may be substituted if they are a recognized Section 508 testing tool by W3C, GSA, or the U.S. Access Board)
Experience in leading a l team

Desired Requirements

Agile Tester, Scrum Master, or other documented Agile training certified
3+ years of experience or equivalent training with web development techniques using HTML5 and CSS
5+ years of experience of structured quality assurance
Verifiable experience with functional testing
Experience using VMware or other virtual machines

Education

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent training.
