The Opportunity
Ally is seeking an innovative and seasoned Digital Accessibility App Development Principal to help lead and define the vision and execution strategy to make Ally a leader in accessibility, ensuring all users can achieve their financial goals. The ideal candidate should be passionate about front-end technology, accessibility, great user experience and have extensive experience developing dynamic, responsive, accessible web applications. Candidates should have strong mobile app development skills and proven experience creating accessible WCAG 2.1 AA solutions. This individual will serve as core team member of the Accessibility Digital Program and Mobile Platform Team.

The Work Itself
As a Digital Accessibility App Development Principal, you will champion the technical implementation of digital accessibility on Ally’s journey to create accessible, usable experiences for numerous platforms.



Serves as an SME for technical iOS and Android accessibility questions for the enterprise.
Provides agile squad-level training and technical support in accordance with industry standard W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and inclusive design principles, optimized for platforms and deep dive concepts where needed.
Evaluates accessibility development knowledge gaps for teams using accessibility scans and defect patterns.
Responsible for accessibility scoring in development metrics.
Understanding of how declarative UI (SwiftUI/Jetpack Compose) functions and it’s Accessibility capabilities.
Studies emerging technology and experience patterns to inform updates needed to Ally’s approach to accessibility.
Works in collaboration with the UX Inclusive Design Director and Accessibility Program Director for program level needs as they arise.
Advocates at all times for the best equal user experience with a grounding in inclusive design rather than a compliant-only solution.
Collaborates with Mobile Platform Team leads, UX Inclusive Design Director and Design Ops to ensure our scalable design and development platforms are accessible.
Collaborates with accessibility SMEs and other developers on solutions and mentor junior developers.
Effectively communicates solution recommendations to senior Accessibility leadership.
Assists in planning and execution of activities related to global accessibility awareness month – a month of sessions and workshops to increase knowledge of web accessibility and users’ needs.
Supports in tooling research for accessibility testing and code inspection.


The Skills You Bring
5+ years experience successfully building accessible solutions, including testing, remediation, and sustainability efforts, with proven examples of leadership.
Comfortable with driving technical accessibility efforts through collaboration with multiple teams working on varying features.
IAAP Certified Web Accessibility Specialist and/or related programming experience strongly preferred.
Strong communication skills to successfully lead accessibility goals, technical solutions, and exchange constructive feedback.
Extensive knowledge of current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1), Apple Accessibility Guidelines, and Android Accessibility Guidelines.
Strong working experience with Mobile App development (both iOS and Android).
Working knowledge or some experience with iOS and Android UI APIs.
· Deep understanding of mobile app and web accessibility testing practices with knowledge of JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Talkback and aXe.

Deep understand of WAI-ARIA.
Strong working experience in accessibility defect analysis, defect creation and resolution.
Commitment to continuous learning.
Passion to advocate for accessibility and inclusive design.
