Our work focuses on a large portfolio of cloud-based, data-driven applications, and range in size and scale from months to multiple years.

Role Summary
As a Senior Accessibility Specialist, you will be working to ensure all customers can access and use our products. You will be a key member of our project teams, evaluating and providing accessible solutions for web-based and mobile products, educating and promoting the practice of building accessible products, as well as mentoring others in methods and techniques for addressing accessibility barriers. Additionally, you will influence policies and guidelines for Thomson Reuters and collaborate across our team to influence WCAG standards.

About You
You are a fit for the role of Senior Accessibility Specialist, If you have:
BA/BS in information science, information design, computer science, human computer interaction (HCI), instructional design, quality assurance, learning technology, assistive technology, related field or equivalent industry training/experience.
A full understanding of Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines and specifications. Expert level understanding of WCAG 2.1 guidelines, know WAI-ARIA, UAAG, and ATAG specifications.
Experience improving and remediating accessibility using web-based technology including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Ability to mentor others in methods and techniques for addressing accessibility barriers on web applications and mobile devices and in a variety of forums.
Experience leading accessibility evaluations and usability testing for accessibility.
Ability to create resources to help provide implementation direction and requirements for UX Design and Front End Development teams.
Expert level understanding of assistive technologies and accessibility-related software including JAWS®, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, ZoomText, MAGic®, Dragon® NaturallySpeaking or other speech recognition software.
5+ years working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative development environment with experience in large, complex software or web applications.
Ability to work collaboratively and productively both with diverse teams and independently.

Knowledge and Skills
Be an expert in both consulting and conducting comprehensive accessibility testing against the WCAG 2.1 (AA) Success Criteria and the updated Section 508 federal requirements using the following methodologies: visual analysis; screen reader reviews; color sampling; keyboard only; gesture only; and code reviews.
Experience working within constraints of user-centered design principles and tools.
Experience with Agile software development practices.
Strong understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Experience with incorporating accessible features in web applications and/or mobile applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Experience and understanding of VPATs / ACR review and creation.
Knowledge of creating accessible documents and document remediation - examples include PDF, PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel.
General awareness of Section 508, AODA and EN 301 549.
Strong project management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong presentation skills.
Can-do attitude.
