DIRECTOR FOR ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND DISABILITY SERVICES

The Director of Disability Services plays a vital role in promoting access, equity, and belonging for students with disabilities. This position leads the Office of Disability Services, provides direct support to students, collaborates with faculty and staff, and ensures institutional compliance with related legislation.

Responsibilities

Supervise the assistant director of academic support and disability services and the coordinator of the BASE program
Provide accessibility, consultation, collaboration, education, support, and accommodations to ensure non-discrimination and equal access to all college programs, services, and activities for students and visitors with disabilities
Oversee and manage all aspects of disability services for students, including intake, documentation review, accommodation planning, and case management
Develop and implement policies and procedures to support access and inclusion across the academic and residential life experience
Work in close partnership with faculty and staff to ensure appropriate implementation of accommodations
Serve as a resource for the campus community on disability-related issues, accessibility, universal design practices, and inclusivity
Provide training and outreach to increase awareness of disability rights and services
Maintain confidential student records and ensure compliance with legal standards and best practices
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of services and recommend and improvements and innovations
Committee work as designated by the associate dean for academic affairs

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Counseling, Special Education, Higher Education Administration, Disability Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in disability services or related fields
Knowledge and experience in disability accommodations required.
Microsoft Office proficiency.
Deep understanding of relevant federal and state regulations
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to contribute to the achievement of department goals with a commitment to provide excellent customer service and responsiveness
Deep attention to detail and effective recordkeeping skills
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the mission of a liberal arts education

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with assistive technology and/or alternative formats.
Deep understanding of universal design for learning (UDL) and inclusive pedagogy.
Experience in small college or liberal arts environments.
Knowledge of and history of using disability services case management software.

Pay is competitive, and salary is commensurate with experience. This full-time position offers a full benefits package, including paid tuition at the College for eligible dependents.
