Preferred qualifications:
Experience in working with Android services like Input Method Framework (IMF), or the Android Graphics pipeline.
Experience with accessibility principles and technologies on other platforms (e.g., iOS/VoiceOver, web accessibility with Accessible Rich Internet Applications, Narrator).
Experience with applying Machine Learning (ML) concepts to solve accessibility tests (e.g., image recognition for screen readers, sound detection).

In this role, you will build first-party assistive technologies for laptops and tablets, including the screen readers, select-to-speak, magnification, switch access, sticky keys, low-vision highlights, dwell control, dictation, voice control, etc. You will ensure that operating systems are accessible and that all laptop and tablet User Interface (UI) complies with the accessibility standards.ChromeOS delivers quality computing at scale to provide universal and unfettered access to information, entertainment, and tools. Responsibilities
Lead the technical design, implementation, and maintenance of core framework components and Android application package (APKs) for Android on tablets and devices.
Drive the integration of accessibility as a primary pillar of the development process. Develop and improve Application programming interface (APIs) and features for assistive technologies, ensuring a quality experience for users of screen readers, switch devices, and advanced keyboard navigation.
Collaborate with Product Managers, User Experience (UX) Designers and Quality Engineers to translate product requirements into technical specifications and user-centric features.
Uphold a standard for software quality through code reviews, automated testing, and performance analysis. Mentor junior engineers on the team, promoting a culture of innovation and technical growth.
Investigate and resolve bugs and performance bottlenecks within the Android platform.
