As the Senior Content Designer, you will report to the Design Manager within our Atlassian Design System team. Your primary focus will be to support the delivery of our roadmap and collaborate closely with cross-functional peers. Together, you will develop solutions that enable our Atlassian Design System to meet and exceed our accessibility goals.
Partner with Engineers, Product Managers and other Designers to evolve the Atlassian Design System front end experiences to provide digital Accessibility at scale.
Use your understanding of assistive technology requirements to guide your team's implementation of Accessibility design and content.
Co-create and lead the integration of Accessibility design and content principles throughout the software development lifecycle in Atlassian Design System.
As a Senior Content Design Practitioner, you'll provide craft leadership and support to other Content Design team members across the Atlassian Design System teams. This includes sharing your expertise with the team.
Identify and act on opportunities to improve accessibility in our content, processes, and overall user experience, ensuring proactive and innovative solutions.
Work with Atlassian Design System cross-discipline leaders to propose, seek buy-in, and support for the Accessibility program of work.
Your background
You have extensive experience in content creation and digital accessibility.
You have experience implementing accessibility in UI components, including interoperability with assistive technologies on Windows and Mac.
You have experience working with directly with users (ie members of the disability community or assistive technology vendors).
You can show a portfolio that includes UX and technical writing samples, workflows, content templates, style guides, or standards for different content types.
You are moving fluidly between high-level content strategy practices and hands-on writing tasks.
You have experience publishing and managing content using content management systems and other technical means such docs as code content.
You have excellent communication skills that help you influence internal and external teams, and build working relationships with coworkers in locations around the globe.
You can tell a story and tailor your narrative to relevant audiences.
Desirable If You Have
Certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (AAP) or local equivalent.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a matrix environment.
Experience in creating and iterating content across multiple channels and have been accountable for content decisions.
Experience using design thinking and design processes (critique, user journeys, personas) to improve or validate your work.
