Digital Accessibility Specialist

Under the direction of the Webmaster IV/Web Technologies Manager, this position ensures the ongoing compliance and accessibility of websites, web applications and electronic media (documents, video, audio) used with regard to applicable laws and regulations, specifically Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Evaluates current and future Electronic Information Technology including websites, web applications and media for compliance with federal and industry accessibility standards
Ensures all documents are prepared or finalized in accordance with accessibility compliance requirements prior to being used on EVMS websites, web applications or other EIT
Maintains expertise in Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Creates and modifies documents using Microsoft Office
Prepares document templates for authors to use in document preparation
Utilizes web content management system to update and edit web content.
Trains and assists team members as required
Leads, maintains, analyzes and reports accessibility remediation efforts across the institution.
Performs other duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree. One (1) year of experience evaluating websites, web applications and electronic media for compliance with current Web Accessibility and WCAG guidelines. Familiarity with enterprise-level web content management systems. TerminalFour Site Manager experience preferred. Training experience preferred. Ability to use Microsoft Office programs to create document templates. Ability to use advanced features of Adobe Acrobat Pro. Experience with HTML, CSS and Javascript, preferred. Knowledge of JAWS, ZoomText and other assistive-related technologies.
