Job Description


Visa is heavily investing in its Global Product Design Team to help support its growing digital product line. Visa Global Product Design is comprised of five specializations: Design, Research & Accessibility, Design Engineering, Design Operations and Content Creation & Design Strategy. Design is looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our team.

We believe that great design has the ability to engage and inspire users, and we strive to rethink and redefine how users interact with Visa's applications and products. We are looking for various levels of experiences that include more junior roles up to the advance level tenure. This would include both individual contributor roles and people manager roles. The roles will give opportunity in designing usable, accessible, and engaging user experiences for Visa's digital product line. The more senior roles will play a critical role in helping craft the end-to-end commerce journeys for partner payment platforms and direct to consumer payment experiences. You will drive the vision for what a world class digital payments experience should be. You’ll be responsible in developing elegant and simple experiences that help solve complex business and design challenges. This is an extraordinary opportunity to influence customer experiences at Visa with high impact and scale.

We prefer candidates be located in one of our Design Research hubs—Austin, San Francisco, Foster City or New York City, but are open to other Visa locations

Role responsibilities include:

Test and analyze existing web and mobile applications for accessibility issues, and work with developers and designers to define and implement solutions
Utilize the internal and centrally managed Visa Global Accessibility Requirements (VGAR) for auditing & remediation, consulting and consistent implementation of compliant applications and experiences
Partner with product managers to help ensure requirements and stories fully represent users with disabilities
Partner with designers and developers to ensure designs and pre-development technical decisions will produce accessible products
Partner with QA staff to ensure compliance with accessibility test plans and catch all issues
Collaborate with various teams’ management to define and implement a plan to grow their respective accessibility maturity over time
Support accessibility knowledge base and company-wide accessibility requirements
Conduct in-person and virtual trainings, as well as produce content for trainings
Work with a diverse and distributed team in a fast-paced environment with quick iterative cycles

Essential Functions

Expert knowledge of visual, UI and interaction design principles with an eye for details and consistency

Ability to navigate complex, cross-functional organizations—sometimes with competing agendas and differing values—while building partnerships and engaging with colleagues across functions, levels and geographies

Will to foster collaboration inside and outside the team, as well as evangelize and promote UX internally

Ability to juggle several high-level projects while delivering A-level work on all of them

Excellent observation, communication, presentation and problem-solving skills

Fully fluent in English and able to understand and be easily understood in English

Knowledge of accessibility guidelines and best practices

Experience with web analytics or data visualization a plus

Experience with tools like InVision, Figma, Mural, UserTesting.com and dScout

Experience managing legal and privacy considerations and processes for user research


Qualifications


Basic Qualifications

Minimum of 4 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or at least 2 years of work experience with a Masters Degree (or other advanced degree)


Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of 5-10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, at least 6 years of work experience with a Masters Degree (or other advanced degree) or 3 years of experience with a PhD
Bachelor's Degree in Human Factors, Design, Psychology, Sociology or related field
Demonstrable experience in accessibility (Section 508/WCAG) analysis, design and testing as well as working with teams to design and implement accessible resolutions to existing issues
Experience in Dev, QA or technical/management consulting

Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.


Travel Requirements

This position requires the incumbent to travel for work less than 10% of the time.


Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
