Job Description

The Senior Accessibility Manager will oversee the implementation of accessibility requirements for applicable Magic Leap products. This role will provide accessibility subject matter expertise and guidance to cross-functional hardware, software and web teams.

Essential Functions:

Provide leadership in the development and implementation of accessibility requirements in applicable Magic Leap products
Lead and collaborates with product management, design, development teams, consultants to define accessibility requirements and acceptance criteria
Define the scope of device functionalities covered by legal requirements, defines user impact and provides input on level of effort to meet requirements
Guide and participate in planning, design, code and functional product reviews related to accessibility
Contribute to the development and integration of accessibility design, development and testing methodologies
Identify and help implement viable product accessibility test strategies and tooling in order to document conformance with standards
Oversee testing and validating accessibility solutions, using automated/manual tools as well as assistive technologies, to help improve the user experience for persons with disabilities
Conduct product reviews and represents accessibility user acceptance
Provide input to product teams and customer support to ensure inclusion of accessibility in support systems and product documentation
Oversees training and education of internal staff in multiple business and technical roles, on the importance of accessibility, accessibility best practices, etc.
Coordinates with third-party partners, accessibility consultants and accessible technology providers as needed
Documents and maintains all necessary objective evidence related to accessibility (e.g., best practices, testing, code, design) and drives continuous improvement
Monitors progress in resolving documented accessibility issues while considering priorities and deadlines
Maintains monthly product scorecards and accessibility compliance record keeping, and coordinates/communicates with Legal and senior leadership where needed
Conducts or oversees accessibility audits (e.g., hardware, software, website)
Provides input to management on overall digital accessibility program needs
Work with regulatory team to create/foster relationship with accessibility regulators and standard developers

Qualifications:

At least 10+ years of experience in digital accessibility
At least 5+ years in management role.
Deep interest and understanding of accessibility best practices and trends related to consumer products
Experience with US accessibility standards and regulations like WCAG 2.0, CVAA, Section 508 amendment of the US Workforce Rehabilitation Act
Knowledge of existing or emerging accessibility practices related to virtual reality, augmented reality and gaming is desired
Working knowledge of EU and ROW accessibility standards and regulations.
Strong time management and prioritization skills with a demonstrated ability to execute against multiple projects and excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Proven ability to build relationships and influence cross-functional teams within a flexible work environment
Proven ability to train and educate highly technical as well as business roles in accessibility best practices and topics
Self-starter with ability to quickly grasp complex subject matter
Ability to work at all levels within the organization
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Strong communication skills (speaking, listening, writing and interpreting)
Testing experience with assistive technologies like JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, ZoomText, Dragon Naturally Speaking, switch devices, etc.
Expertise in accessibility test plan creation, user story inputs, writing effective test cases and user-focused acceptance criteria
Experience in business or operational aspects of accessibility is desired (e.g. program planning/development/management, training, recordkeeping, etc.)
Experience in working with disabled community in order to understand user needs and customer requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
