Digital Accessibility Analyst

Towson University is looking for a candidate with the potential to be an accessibility professional and is currently accepting applications for a Digital Accessibility Analyst to provide full-time expert assistance to The Office of Technology Services (OTS) and other campus departments with digital accessibility consultation, research, review, and recommendations. This role will be critical in providing guidance on user interface and interactivity in the context of providing an online experience that is not only accessible but also allows for productive use by all audiences. This position provides the technical expertise needed to answer questions posed by The Office of Inclusion and Equity, and University Legal Counsel. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reviews Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPAT) for web apps under development or considered for procurement.
Provides technical guidance as part of the campus initiative to make technology platforms compliant with Towson University and Federal standards.
Supported implementation of the University System of Maryland's (USM) digital accessibility guidance.
Participates in procurement reviews of campus technologies.
Conducts code level and screen reader based digital accessibility audits and provide guidance to developers on and off campus.
Develops digital accessibility education materials and educates the Towson University community about digital accessibility and furthers the digital experience mission.
Participates in campus workgroups and committees when a digital accessibility expert is needed.
Manages various accessibility-related special projects.
Performs other duties as assigned or approved by this position's supervisor.



Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and two years of related experience.
Basic frontend development skills: CSS/HTML.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience working in a time-sensitive role while simultaneously handling multiple projects.


Preferred Skills

DHS Trusted Tester Certification, CSUN Digital Accessibility Certification, or IAAP CPACC or WAS, and advanced understanding of the connections between effective accessible design and overall successful user interfaces for all users.


Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
