About the role

This is an exciting new opportunity for a fixed term post until April 2025, supporting colleagues as they work on a major University change project. The role sits within the Digital Development Team as part of the wider department of Digital and Creative Media.

The Digital Accessibility and QA Manager will provide specialist support for the accessibility and quality assurance testing of the University website. They will embed accessibility good practices across the organisation, provide guidance and training to content producers and play a central role in the procurement of web-based systems.

The role holder will lead on setting up a procedure for running automated and manual testing on new and existing web pages and related content. They will work closely with other members of the Digital and Creative Media Team, including the UX Design Manager, in maintaining a user-led and evidence-based approach to digital development, ensuring inclusivity.

They will engage with project and procurement work with other divisions across the University, including IT Services, to establish procedures for evaluating and testing new and existing web systems for accessibility, functionality and cross-platform use.

About you

You will have excellent knowledge of good accessibility practices, methods and associated technologies and have a good understanding of the legal requirements around digital accessibility. You will also have good knowledge of digital QA and accessibility testing methods and be able to implement a process for carrying out this work.

You will have experience of developing user guides to help editors apply good practices to web editing across the University and have experience of holding workshops and training sessions.

Ability to present complex ideas and information in a way that can be understood by varied audiences is essential as is having skills in being able to build rapport and influence stakeholders.

You will have a thorough working knowledge and passion and interest in the wider digital landscape.
