Under limited direction from the Associate Vice President, Institutional Accessibility & ADA Coordinator, the Digital Accessibility Director is responsible for overseeing and ensuring that the college's digital content and online resources are accessible to all students, faculty, staff and college visitors, including those with disabilities. This position leads a cross functional, college-wide initiative to comply with updates to Title II of the ADA. Upon completion of this initiative, this position will be responsible for maintaining compliance standards.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum Experience/Training:
Six years of digital accessibility experience.
Three years of management experience.
Project management experience to take complex, high impact projects from conception to fruition.
Experience with remediation of documents highly preferred.
Knowledge of laws and regulations related to disability access.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Essential Functions:
35% Develops a comprehensive plan and serve as project manager to address the College’s need to attain compliance with the new Title II of the ADA regulations supporting institutional wide digital accessibility for all users on all digital platforms. Continually maintain and improve digital accessibility efforts to ensure ongoing compliance by evaluating digital content for accessibility issues and providing solutions to make them compliant with WCAG 2.1 and ADA accessibility standards.
25% Collaborates with faculty and instructional designers to integrate technology into the curriculum, ensuring it enhances teaching and learning. Assists in the development and implementation of technology-enhanced curriculum and instructional materials. Provides expert guidance wherever digital accessibility is developed, procured, or supported. Recommends and advises on digital accessibility criteria for integration into development and testing processes, procedures, resource requirements, and schedules.
10% Responsible for people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff, and staff development.
10% Provides training and support to faculty, staff, and students on digital accessibility, the use of educational technologies and course remediation.
10% Develops, implements, and maintains digital accessibility goals and strategies in alignment with divisional and college-wide initiatives.
5% Directs and oversees the Department of Digital Accessibility.
5% Perform additional duties as assigned.
