This position will have hybrid workplace options available but will be required to report to the listed address at least two times per week or more at the discretion of the supervisor and based on business need.


This position is Term Limited until 6/30/2026. The applicant selected for this position will be required to sign a waiver of retention rights.

Description of Job


The salary range for this posting is -


$32.74 - $43.85 Hourly


$2,619.23 - $3,507.69 Biweekly


$5,675.00 - $7,600.00 Monthly


$68,100.00 - $91,200.00 Annually


This role will be a subject matter expert for the agency and will be expected to:


Have a strong commitment to equity, disability, and inclusion, including accessibility including a strong understanding of assistive technologies. Involve different perspectives, including internal and external stakeholders, in the prioritization process. Review the situation regularly to benefit from arising opportunities.
Develop accessibility standards/policy and best practices for CDLE and act as consultant for the agency for current WCAG standards and assist with problem solving accessibility issues.
Create and update plan for compliance with Web Conformance Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) for digital content across CDLE’s portfolio of digital content including regular audits and coordination of testing/mitigation efforts.
Conduct regular audits of CDLE’s digital content utilizing scanning tools and manual testing using assistive technology (JAWS). Implement necessary changes to allow for improved accessibility.
Design workflows for creating accessibility content by collaborating with stakeholders to build accessibility throughout the agency.
Lead an accessibility-focused committee across the department to generate feedback, empower users to solve accessibility challenges, and assist in creation of policies, procedures, training, etc.
Provide training and coaching for CDLE staff in various roles on how-to’s of accessibility and why it is important.

Education And Experience


Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.


AND


Three years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position to include:


Application development, website development, UI/UX, or comparable
Demonstrated experience with digital accessibility and implementing WCAG (A&AA)
Experience with technical systems and industry standards.
Proficient in multiple accessibility and assistive technology testing tools
Effective management of one or more projects of large, strategic, or complex initiatives


This experience MUST include the following in order to qualify: Demonstrated experience with digital accessibility and implementing WCAG (A&AA).


Preferred Qualifications


International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) Certification(s) or other Accessibility certifications / accreditations
Demonstrated project management experience in a large organization.
Experience training and relaying information to employees and stakeholders in an easy to understand manner.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in process improvement and change management
Previous experience performing alike duties as a State of Colorado classified employee.

Experience with technical systems and industry standards.
Proficient in multiple accessibility and assistive technology testing tools
Effective management of one or more projects of large, strategic, or complex initiatives
Stakeholder management skills with emphasis on inclusion of individuals with disabilities
Full understanding of why digital accessibility is important and impact on users with disabilities
