ACCESSIBILITY ENGINEER

Responsibilities include accessibility testing, user interface testing, on web and mobile platforms.

The work environment depends upon self-starters who are well organized and work independently who loves to continually learn. Able to manage own projects with attention to detail with accuracy and reliability. We leverage technology to maintain team approach to all projects, (Teams, Slack, AHA!, O365, TeamCity and others)

The role includes accessibility and user interface testing. The role can expand over time to include test management, data collection, network testing, test development and performance monitoring.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

(Required) Accessibility testing (WCAG/508) skill and experience, including ARIA, WCAG 2.1 (min), screen reader expertise (JAWS for Windows/ VoiceOver for IOS/NVDA)
(Required) Be able to describe accessibility issues and recommendations for resolving same in bug reports to developers
Strong knowledge of Javascript /HTML/CSS and ARIA
(Desired/Not Required) Our platforms are all Linux based, so it is helpful if you have experience with basic bash and some programming
(Desired/Not Required) Experience with one or more automated test tools such as Sahi, and/or Selenium
(Desired/Not Required) User Interface design for dashboards and reporting (will train)
Enthusiasm for learning new skills and adapting to a dynamic environment
The ability to write and review documentation and presentations. (Often will be required to work from simulations, prototypes and specifications to implement tests.)

DESIRED SKILLS

Ability to inspect JavaScript and compare to WCAG requirements in order to consult with engineers regarding improvements.
Experience in agile web development processes, technologies and tools
Proficient in writing good bug reports with clear repro steps, screenshots, user-impact, WCAG checkpoint failure and recommended fix
(not required) Experience designing user dashboards, and reports

A Degree is helpful but not required. We do expect at least 2 year’s experience in similar job roles.
