As our Digital Accessibility Consultant, you will be a valued contributor to Perkins Access accessibility consulting engagements delivering services related to digital strategies, usability, web standards and accessibility compliance directly to customers. Specifically, you will work with Perkins Access clients to define engagement scope, establish digital accessibility testing boundaries, conduct testing, manage the testing-results database, communicate testing results, and provide remediation guidance and training as required through the course of the engagement. In this role, you will also be responsible for managing customer engagement and satisfaction from a services perspective. You will have excellent technical expertise and knowledge of current accessibility standards, and must communicate clearly and effectively with clients and deliver exceptional services.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations include the following:

Review design systems, style guides, wireframes and early digital prototypes to identify potential accessibility barriers while advising clients on inclusive design best practices.
Conduct manual accessibility audits of digital properties, inspect web code or native apps and identify accessibility issues using a variety of assistive technologies
Conduct user testing, typically of designated use cases, with people with disabilities
Write reports to deliver expert accessibility insights and testing results to clients.
Provide technical solutions and remediation guidance to clients to help remove accessibility barriers from digital experiences.
Assist clients with developing strategies, roadmaps, policies, procedures to advance and scale their enterprise-level accessibility programs.
Serving as a trusted advisor to clients, successfully manage customer engagement and communications during service delivery and with satisfactory quality of deliverables.
Manage all assigned projects including estimating, planning, scheduling and identifying resources needed while ensuring that projects are executed according to scope of work and delivered on time and within budget.
Contributes to Perkins-wide learning initiatives around accessibility and best practices.

Technical Competencies

Experience directly advising clients about inclusive design and digital accessibility standards and best practices.
Knowledge of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, The American’s with Disabilities Act, Section 508, evolving accessibility standards and VPAT.
Skilled with HTML, CSS, and WAI-ARIA (JavaScript a plus)
Prior experience conducting manual accessibility testing of websites, mobile apps and digital products using assistive technologies such as screen readers (e.g. JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) and magnification software.
Ability to develop and offer technical solutions and guidance to web developers, designers, and software engineers.
Experience with mobile app development and mobile accessibility testing.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as computer science, digital design, or user experience.
3 years of experience in digital accessibility, front-end development, digital design or user experience.
Certification/Credentials a plus:
IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
