Sr Inclusive UX Specialist

Inclusive Usability is a core service offering for Applause. We are looking to bring aboard a seasoned UX professional with experience in inclusive design and accessibility best practices. The ideal candidate is a great communicator and self-starter with a broad background in user experience, ranging from UX design and strategy to UX research. This role will support both client and internal facing initiatives.

Basic Terms:
- Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
- Location: US-based remote
- Capacity: Up to 40 hours weekly
- Duration: 12 months with potential for contract-to-hire

Responsibilities:
- Serves as the subject matter expert on UX and inclusive design within the practice. Responsibilities include:
- Run or oversee all research aspects of generative and evaluative remote unmoderated and moderated qualitative research with people with disabilities. This includes:
- - Translating client business questions into key research objectives
- - Study definition and planning
- - Session moderation
- - Analysis
- - Delivery of compelling and actionable insights
- Vet, train, and mentor team members
- Drive thought leadership in the continued build-out of the inclusive design and research practice, e.g. through collaboration on improving workflows, processes, methodologies and deliverables
- Collaborate with sales managers and provide subject matter expertise to customize programs to client’s needs
- Collaborate with our Community Management team and ResearchOps to grow our community of PwD study participants

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in HCI, Psychology or another related field
- 5 years in a UX role with exposure to accessibility
- Experience in UX design with accessibility in mind
- Experience with accessibility principles and WCAG
- Broad experience in qualitative research methods
- Comfortable with metrics; able to synthesize quantitative data with qualitative user research
- Experience in using accessibility tools including screen readers, magnification tools
- Very collaborative with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, creative environment
- Strong relationship and interpersonal skills
- Confident communication and presentation skills
- Entrepreneurial self-starter
- Flexibility to accommodate unplanned client and project changes
