Job Description


We are delighted to be hiring an Accessibility Officer to join the team! Working within the Operation Teams and supporting the Head of Accessibility in delivering a business-wide accessibility strategy. At Taylor & Francis, we are committed to ensuring all our products and websites are accessible to as wide an audience as possible. We continually strive to improve the accessibility of our eBook, journal, digital platform, websites, marketing, and social media to support our customers and colleagues with any print disability, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and visual impairment.

The role combines a Taylor & Francis company-wide accountability for meeting or exceeding accessibility standards, policy and legislation in our products and services. The role holder will work alongside the Product & Technology team, who are responsible for ensuring platforms and design processes incorporate accessibility capabilities and considerations and that any required fixes revealed through regular audits are implemented.

What you will be doing:

Supporting the development and maintenance of a longer-term strategy for global accessibility, including benchmarking exercises
Act as key liaison with QA and development team within Product & Technology, and externally, to perform regular audits and updates to key platforms to maintain targeted accessibility levels
Schedule and co-ordinate accessibility audits across our digital portfolio and prepare JIRAs to rectify any issues
Ensure all auditing schedules and roadmaps remain complete and up to date
Co-promoting T&F’s accessibility strategy to the rest of the business as well as customers with the Head of Accessibility and other internal stakeholders
Managing the internal and external queries from customers and colleagues
Gather and maintain up-to-date metrics for analyzing customer queries as directed by the Head of Accessibility


Qualifications


What we are looking for:

An understanding of the publishing industry, higher education and academic research accessibility issues and the barriers that people with disabilities face
You will have a light-touch understanding of standards, legislation, and compliance frameworks around accessibility from a business and colleague standpoint
Demonstrated history of working effectively as part of an agile delivery team
Proven ability to plan and manage projects spanning multiple teams and departments
Demonstrated history of strong collaboration with technology and subject matter experts within an organization
Demonstrated capacity for effectively interacting with external stakeholders
The ability to show initiative and embrace changing processes and technologies.
Experience with UX and UI design for digital content, products, and services; familiarity with web accessibility standards and their application
Technical skills: WCAG, technical writing, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, video conferencing
