Job Title: Sr. Web Accessibility Technical Lead
Location: New York, NY, with the ability to work from home approximately 2-4 days per week
Duration: 6 months plus. This is a contract to hire role

Position Responsibilities:
Recommend potential solutions and best practices for site/app remediation
Possess deep knowledge of the various accessibility tools....for example: NVDA, Axe, color contrast checkers like ContrastRatio, ZoomText, etc. and assistive technologies and determine which tools are right for Guardian
Own and drive the end-to-end toolset evaluation, determination, vetting, approval, onboarding, integration into CI/CD pipeline, and roll out to web and IT teams across the company. This includes: developing requirements and criteria in order to evaluate what accessibility tools Guardian should adopt: conducting POCs and hands on demos with various user teams, assessing and choosing finalist tools: researching (including reviewing Gartner reports, accessibility blogs/resources and the like), vetting the pros/cons of each tool, providing justification and securing buy in from appropriate IT governance committees: developing pricing proposals and working with internal sourcing group to negotiate favorable prices, facilitating security & third party risk reviews of tools, purchasing tools and licenses; working with respective web teams across the enterprise to confirm number of licenses; distributing licenses, managing licenses (onboarding/offboarding) on go forward basis
Work with WCAG lead to develop and make available training on purchased tools
Review / author technical accessibility documentation (guidelines, roles/responsibilities, checklists, testing plans) and provide technical feedback and edits
Evaluate existing and new sites, platforms and mobile applications against W3C WCAG 2.1 level A and AA accessibility guidelines, using manual testing, automated tools and assistive technologies
Assist web teams with interpreting and writing WCAG compliant Jira stories
Participate in PI planning, weekly sprint or standup meetings as the WCAG subject matter technical expert
Write detailed findings to document identified issues and recommend potential techniques and best practices for remediation of accessibility violations
Assist with web and mobile accessibility and user testing of digital products
Develop and deliver high quality outreach and training sessions about how to develop accessible websites
Provide guidance on how to read and interpret accessibility audit reports
Deep knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Levels A, AA and AAA
Remain in close contact with individual and team performance to identify areas that require additional accessibility guidance and training

This position will report into the 2nd VP, Customer Technology Solutions in the IT & Shared Services Organization.

Functional Skill Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of disability, accommodation, and accessibility and the relationships between them
Demonstrated ability to communicate/present disability, accommodation and accessibility needs across a wide and diverse audience
Potential to create and administer various empathy building events such as empathy labs, GAAD (Global Accessibility Awareness Day), etc.
Demonstrated knowledge of web and mobile accessibility including CCAG 2.1 and AI-ARIA guidelines
Experience in remediating accessibility issues in websites and applications (both desktop and mobile), electronic documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and multimedia (video)
Experience performing manual and automated web accessibility evaluations and creating a written report, including recommendations for remediation
Familiarity with disability law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Titles I, II and III and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technologies, including screen reader software (VoiceOver, Talkback, NVDA)
Demonstrated knowledge of some combination of other common accessibility testing tools, such as: Zoomtext, Windows Magnifier, AppleZoom, Pac3, Wave, Axe, AInspector, Dinolytics, FAW, WorldSpace Attest, Powermapper SortSite, Color Oracle, Dragon Speech, Windows Cortana, Google Voice Assistant, Lighthouse, Accessibility Insights for Web, Worldspace Attest, Worldspace Comply, Google Accessibility API & Guide, Color Ratio, Selenium, NuHTML
Be a proven technical expert who can also easily and clearly communicate with business teams
Knowledge of color theory, typography
Cross-Browser Development/Testing, Cross-Platform Testing, Cross-Device Training
Working knowledge of React and other frameworks

Position Qualifications:
Minimum of 7+ years in a developer / technical role
Minimum of 5+ years coding/developing/designing websites for accessibility highly preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science or similar
Strong understanding of web development and design constraints
IAPP WAS, CPASS and CPWA Certification is a significant plus
Expert level knowledge of WCAG 2.1 A, AA, AAA Success Criteria
Deep knowledge of web fundamentals - HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
JavaScript framework - React/Angular
Strong Drupal and PHP skills
Experience with Agile/Safe
Strong knowledge of responsive front-end
Demonstrated knowledge of principles, concepts, methods and techniques of universal design standards
Must be self-directed, confident, be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have solid presentation skills
Experience with ticketing system (Jira, etc.)

Travel:
5% travel - Occasional travel to/from NYC area to NYC Home Office, Bethlehem, PA and Holmdel, NJ
