Job Overview

Provide direction for and coordination of digital, electronic, and communication access auxiliary aids, services and programs as required by federal and local mandates, to ensure access and promote inclusion of students, employees and guests with disabilities in all aspects of the university experience. Development policies and procedures that promote an institutional commitment for understanding and addressing access needs on campus and in the digital/electronic campus environment.
Essential Functions

Ensure that the university has appropriate policies, procedures, and personnel to ensure the delivery of digital, electronic, and/or communication access accommodations as required by federal, state and local laws for students, employees, and visitors across all campuses.
Maintain compliance with federal and state mandates regarding accommodation of qualified individuals with disabilities including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and other relevant state and federal laws and guidelines.
Collaborate with Digital Technology Solutions, Marketing and Communication, Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning and other partners to research current trends in communication access, assistive and accessible technology and participate in strategic planning for the Accessibility Network.
Recommend appropriate assistive technology, hardware, and/or specialized software based on the evaluation of individual needs; develop and present training to teach students or employees how to learn more efficiently by using assistive/accessible technology.
Work within appropriate divisional financial procedures and personnel to initiate and manage service agreements and invoices with third-party vendors delivering communication accessibility solutions essential to daily operations.
Design and implement data collection and assessment strategies to enhance the success of accessibility services.
Develop and oversee an annual budget and collaborate with divisional business affairs unit to analyze data, calculate expense projections, and draft reports to ensure efficiency of services and forecast cost estimates for service delivery.
Provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff as well as third party contractors (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree in Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Instructional/Curriculum Design, Social Work, Information Technology, Communications, ASL/English Interpretation, Linguistics or related field
Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Five (5) years of related professional experience digital or electronic accessibility; instructional design or instructional technology; communication access service (ASL Interpreting/CART or Speech to Text); special education; rehabilitation counseling; accessible design; or a related field.
Additional Qualifications Considered

Certification in specialty related to digital, electronic, or communication accessibility will be considered in lieu of formal education, such as National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competency (CPACC), or Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
Knowledge of disability law, including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Experience providing access services or support to individuals who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, and/or visually impaired.
Demonstrated supervision of direct reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of disability culture and multiple models of disability identity and expression.
