Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

Can you conduct an accessibility audit using different tools and Assistive Technologies? Do you live and breath web accessibility and want your work to make a real difference? We are the product development team behind Oracle APEX, Oracle's premier low-code development platform, that is used by customers across the globe by virtually every industry. Our mission is to empower developers to easily build compelling, accessible web apps with superior functionality, performance, and user experience. We deliver on this by eliminating the complexity of hand-coding and enabling developers to focus on the problem at hand.

Accessibility of both the development tool, and also web apps built with APEX, is absolutely critical. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated software developer, who can help us drive this forwards.



Regular Activities:
- Performing ongoing accessibility reviews
- Working hand-in-hand with the development team throughout the development process and providing accessibility guidance
- Helping with creation of Accessibility Conformance Reports
- Engaging with users of the product and help guide product direction to give all our users the best possible experience
- Championing accessibility across the team
- Learn and contribute to the Oracle APEX development platform

Who you are:
- You have an excellent knowledge of accessibility guidelines and standards like WCAG, Section 508 and EN 301 549.
- You have detailed knowledge of web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI-ARIA
- You have working knowledge of browser developer tools, and accessibility tools like Axe Core, and color contrast checkers
- You are confident testing with screen readers (including JAWS), magnifiers and speech recognition tools
- You enjoy contributing to multiple projects simultaneously and can shift focus fast
- You can work efficiently with minimal supervision
- You have a bias for action and an itch to improve existing processes
- You enjoy tinkering and building tooling to improve everyday tasks
- You have exceptional communication skills
- You have at least 4 years experience working in an accessibility related technical role

Nice to haves:
- You are familiar with SQL and PL/SQL
- You are familiar with Oracle APEX (apex.oracle.com)
- You enjoy presenting
- You are comfortable with following standards, but also defining them
