Lead UX Designer
Manages all tasks and initiatives associated with digital transformation projects and processes.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Monitoring and reviewing the processes and procedures of organizational digital transformation projects, such as digital marketing, IoT projects, Blockchain projects; providing technical guidance as needed.
Leading the design, development and implementation of digital infrastructure and applications based on digital capability evaluation results.
Managing a team with diverse background to drive organizational digital transformation initiatives, and developing a comprehensive understanding of digital transformation.
Communicating the impact and importance of digital transformation with all stakeholders to ensure delivery of digital transformation projects.

TIAA is seeking an experienced UX Web Accessibility Specialist to join our UX Design team. This role will be responsible for making our digital properties accessible to individual of all abilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a broad knowledge and understanding of user experience, web content accessibilities guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards and practices, and WAI-ARIA for both desktop and mobile technology and Section 508. In addition, have experience with assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and Talkback.

As part of the User Experience Design team, the candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders (i.e., management, information architecture, visual design, copywriting, development, testing) and vendors to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA and Section 508 (when applicable). In addition will lead the effort on establishing processes, defining corporate standards and socialization.

Responsibilities:

Review UX Designs (i.e., wireframes, visual designs, interaction patterns) with the objective of identifying issues prior to development.
Act as a subject matter expert on Accessibility for various areas across the enterprise
Conduct audits and present results with project teams
Drive the development of materials and training of various teams across the enterprise.
Contribute to topics, development, and maintenance of the corporate accessibility site and materials.
Research best practices & patterns, perform competitive evaluations, build concrete solutions to problems.
Lead and further evolve accessibility working groups.
Define accessibility requirements for new components.
Contribute content to the UX Design Systems Management platform
Assumes a project management role in the identification, prioritization, development, modification and advocating for appropriate policies, procedures, and practices in partnership with areas such as Diversity & Inclusion and Legal to effectuate improvements.
Identifies and evaluates accessibility issues in various area of service and make recommends resolutions.

Qualification:

Required:

Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Accessibility; possess a broad knowledge of accessibility barriers including the tools and techniques for overcoming them.
3 years’ experience working with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 accessibility standards and guidelines; knowledge of disability law including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the communicating to a wide range of project stakeholders (
4 years’ experience with web technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript).
2 years’ experience with assistive technology such as ZoomText, JAWS, VoiceOver or NVDA screen reader
2 years’ experience with mobile accessibility iOS & Android
2 years’ experience providing training and education to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree

Knowledge of Compliance & Laws
Experience with automated accessibility auditing tools
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Prior background in User Experience, User Research
Ability to provide guidance and coach colleagues and clients in one-on-one, small group, or large forum environments.
Experience working within a large design team.
Ability to perform analyses and employ problem-solving skills to recommend the best solutions.
Ability to analyze code for accessibility issues.
Strong communication, ability to be proactive and be comfortable with ambiguity.
Experience with Web Accessibility within the financial services industry
ADA Certification
Experience with ADA Compliance in Higher Education

Potential Salary: $131,700.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
