Senior Digital Accessibility Specialist

The Sr. Digital Accessibility Specialist serves as part of the Digital Customer Experience team to enable the delivery of accessible digital products and processes. This role will identify and prioritize opportunities to ensure business units meet their conformance obligations, while simultaneously building internal capacity to sustain inclusive developed practices. For key initiatives, this role will execute accessibility testing and facilitate defect triage and resolution activities.


What You Will Do


Strategy & thought leadership:


Create and maintain processes and policies to manage accessibility across each stage of the digital product lifecycle (ex. procurement, development, and implementation).
Improve development and testing processes, methodology, tools, and best practices to ensure inclusive design and practices are adopted.
Train teams across internal and external business units on how to create and maintain accessible digital experiences and PDFs.
Review and provide input in RFPs and quotations with respect to securing accessible vendors of products.
Contribute to the development of KPI’s and metrics to assess and track the status of accessibility within and across digital products and web content.


Testing And Remediation


Identify and remediate accessibility issues within web content (ex. PDFs, websites, and other web content) across various lines of business.
Produce accessibility defect reports, test progress reports and test completion reports.
Build source document templates to generate accessible documents across the company.
Partner with Quality Assurance Specialist team on testing and remediation recommendations to internal and external parties.


What You Will Bring


3+ years demonstrated, hands-on experience conducting web accessibility testing against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0/2.1 Levels A, AA and AAA success criteria using assistive technologies and various testing tools (Adobe Acrobat Pro (versions XI, DC or higher), NVDA, JAWS, Colour Contrast Analyzer, WebAim Wave, AChecker etc.).
3+ years demonstrated, hands-on experience making accessibility improvements to web applications, websites, and related digital content (such as PDFs, multi-media, and social media).
3+ years demonstrated, hands-on experience using front-end development technologies to build mobile responsive web applications using agile methods that conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0/2.1 Levels A, AA and AAA, including understanding technology limitations and constraints.
IAAP Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA) or an equivalent credential preferred.
Knowledge and awareness of disabilities including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language and learning.
Extremely detail-oriented, excellent understanding of how technology products are delivered and able to anticipate future roadblocks and help mitigate delivery risks.
Track record of collaboration and influence when working in cross-functional teams, ability to resolve tensions, lead, and foster collaborative relationships, engage, and inspire the right outcome through partnerships and mutual respect.
Experience in risk assessment and management techniques.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
Understanding of insurance and financial services industry preferred.
