We are a multidisciplinary team of researchers, designers, content designers, and operators working together to address tough human and business problems with sophisticated solutions. We partner closely with product managers, researchers, designers, data scientists, and engineers to lead ZxD’s work from discovery, into initial concept and strategy, through the execution of design and then market releases.
About the role
As a Principal Program Manager for Accessibility at Zillow, you will own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for accessibility initiatives. You are perfect for this role if you are an accessibility evangelist, a keen strategist and an adept program manager, and you thrive working cross-functionally across teams. You will have the opportunity to work alongside stellar partners from design systems, research, content, engineering, legal and equity & belonging and to build a durable program that serves hundreds of millions of customers who come to Zillow to find their next home.


In this role, you will engage leaders and teams across the organization, driving accessibility best-practices and innovations that directly impact our customers.


This job gives you the chance to:
Be a strong advocate for customers with permanent and temporary disabilities and champion inclusive design

Mature an accessibility program that impacts 236M+ users

Flex your strategic skills as well as your program management skills

Create clear, measurable accessibility goals and high impact initiatives to motivate change

Craft accessibility guidelines, resources, and educational programs for designers, engineers, and product managers to raise awareness and drive contributions

Strategically close gaps in accessibility adherence and guidelines

Work closely with design and engineering to strategize innovative approaches, evolve tools and drive innovation

Work with leadership and the legal team on risk assessment and prevention

Engage directly with company senior leadership to drive initiatives

Support design, product and engineering leaders to address accessibility topics

Demonstrate strong communication skills

Keep a pulse on accessibility news and trends and knowledge share

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.
In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $164,800.00 - $263,200.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
8+ years of program management experience or similar with experience building and maturing an accessibility program

A passionate advocate for accessibility with expert level knowledge of accessible design and WCAG guidelines, as well as regulations

Demonstrated experience advocating for accessibility within a large organization and operationalizing a program at scale that drives advocacy and adherence

Strong awareness of assistive technologies across desktop, tablet and mobiles devices and comfort with screen readers

Strong understanding of design and engineering processes, planning programs and implementation

Intermediate knowledge of engineering and testing accessibility requirements

Outstanding interpersonal, collaborative, and creative problem-solving skills

Adept at anticipating and making trade-offs, balancing business and customer need, and prioritizing work that will have the highest impact

An effective verbal, visual, and written communicator

Have a strong sense of ownership, vitality, and drive

Have experience working with and managing outside vendors
