Section 508 Accessibility Consultant

The Section 508 Accessibility Consultant will be responsible for working with the technology team to ensure that all information and communications technology deliverables can be utilized by customers with various disabilities (vision, hearing, motor, cognitive, etc.). The Tester will be expected to possess strong tactical knowledge of accessibility standards and practices utilized to achieve compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This person must be comfortable working in a team environment involving multiple contractors working on a Federal Government Program.
Accountable for analyzing federal customer Requirements, Acceptance Criteria and solution
Test and verify compliance with 508 standards for all deliverables, products and services, or websites, applications, videos or trainings.
Generate test summary reports after each testing cycle to show testing progress, actual testing results, and pass/fail status
Validate 508 compliance against government Accessibility standards on all print documents and Microsoft platform solution.
Plan, prepare, and execute tests to verify system 508 compliance and document and report test results.
Develop test plans, scripts, and scenarios and implement them.
Takes ownership of remediating discovered issues.
Participate in planning meetings and test readiness reviews providing technical input.
Communicate weekly with project team verbally and in writing to provide detail regarding potential problems and concerns.
Participate in project work group meetings (internal/external peer reviews, walk through, status meetings, Software Process Improvement, JAD sessions etc.)
Minimum 5+ years hands-on experience working with assistive technology.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or experience in relevant area.
No less than three years of substantive and relevant experience in 508
Must hold DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester
Experience testing Microsoft (M365) platform solutions, strongly preferred
Must have the ability to independently troubleshoot software 508 Compliance issues including testing and troubleshooting SW/HW accessibility issues
Knowledge of 508 law including provisions.
Knowledge of global accessibility laws and standards such as WCAG 2.0/2.1, Section 508, ADA
Basic familiarity with standard IT SDLC such as Agile and traditional project management
Experience in working with assistive technology for accessibility testing (e.g., MS Accessibility Checker, Microsoft Inspect, MS Narrator, JAWS, NVDA, WindowEyes, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Color Contrast Analyzer, VoiceOver (OSX & iOS), and Android Talkback)
508 Testing Ability and Report Writing -Demonstrated ability to utilize, JAWS, (at a minimum) as testing/troubleshooting tools.
Experience consulting with our Federal Section 508 stakeholders on test results and corrective actions
Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust (NAC) level.
