Software Engineer III - ADA Tester

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and community banking technology team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

Sensitive to the electronic communications access needs for people with disabilities.
Responsible for conducting comprehensive accessibility analysis on various forms of electronic communications to identify potential barriers and violations with suggested solutions
Execute test plans, review expected test results, actual test results and report issues
Work closely with team members to ensure that issues are properly identified, fixed, and tested
Mentor team members to progress their technical and professional skills
Have broad accessibility knowledge in UI development and design experience
Be well-versed in a variety of common electronic communication accessibility barriers people with hearing, physical, speech, cognitive, and vision disabilities experience

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
Hands-on experience for at least 2 years in quality assurance or User Acceptance testing or Accessibility Testing
Hands-on experience for at least 2 years in electronic communications accessibility analysis, design, and development experience in large and highly dynamic environments
Related assistive technology knowledge and experience with JAWS, NVDA, and/or Window Eyes screen readers
Solid experience of CSS, HTML4 & 5, ARIA, JavaScript, AJAX, as well as US ADA, Section 508, and W3C WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 standards
Capable of conducting comprehensive accessibility testing against the WCAG 2.1 Level A & AA Success Criteria
Be able to teach methods and techniques for addressing accessibility barriers in a variety of forums
Be able to suggest testable solutions designed to integrate with a dynamic code base

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Familiarity with JIRA or other test management tools
Proficiency with accessibility testing tools and frameworks like NVDA, JAWS, aXe
Strong interpersonal and communication (Written and Verbal) skills, and the ability to present ideas, thoughts, and information clearly
Have excellent project management and organizational skills and be able to work collaboratively and productively with diverse teams and alone
