Digital Accessibility Automation Engineer

The Digital Accessibility Automation Engineer is responsible for advancing accessibility across digital products through engineering-led, scalable automation solutions. This role focuses on embedding accessibility validation into automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous monitoring, early defect detection, and regression prevention across client-facing digital channels including websites, mobile apps, and other digital platforms that serve as key customer touchpoints. Responsibilities include partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accessibility is integrated from ideation through delivery, designing and maintaining accessibility automation at scale using Deque Axe Monitor, scripting transactional accessibility test scripts, integrating automated accessibility checks into Selenium-based frameworks, embedding validation into CI/CD pipelines, monitoring accessibility trends using automated reporting, analyzing scan results to identify defects, troubleshooting automation failures, and communicating technical findings to stakeholders. The role also involves leading the digital accessibility roadmap with an automation-first strategy, conducting targeted manual accessibility tests for areas automation cannot cover, mentoring teams on accessibility best practices, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA and EAA, producing automation-driven reports, and collaborating with external tooling partners. Must-have skills include 5+ years of experience in digital accessibility with a strong focus on automation, expert knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2 and WAI-ARIA, proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, hands-on experience with Deque Axe Monitor and Axe DevTools, experience integrating accessibility automation with Selenium and CI/CD systems, debugging automation issues, version control familiarity, and excellent communication skills. Candidates must be local to Houston or Chicago and willing to work in a hybrid environment.
