Job Description
The Director of Accessibility Services provides strategic leadership, oversight, and advocacy for institutional efforts to ensure access, equity, and inclusion for students with disabilities. This role manages the student accommodation process, providing expert guidance and support to students, faculty, staff, and the broader campus community, fostering an inclusive environment that ensures equitable access to education and campus life, promoting student success. The Director ensures institutional compliance with federal, state, and local disability laws as well as applicable policies governing disability services in higher education. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Extensive knowledge of Federal disability law such as the ADA and Section 504, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and state disability law such as Colorado HB22-1255 and SB25-087 * Ability to create relationships across campus and outside campus with college partners * Knowledge of assistive technology, various disabilities and their impact as well as knowledge of appropriate accommodations to address barriers due to disability impact Required Qualifications * Master's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Psychology, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience. * Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in disability services or a related area in a higher education setting. * Supervisory experience * Thorough understanding of ADA/504 regulations, Colorado HB22-1255 and SB25-087. Preferred Qualifications * Five (5) years of progressive experience in disability services or a related area in a higher education setting * Experience using accommodation management software (e.g., AIM). * Familiarity with assistive technology and digital accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, screen readers). * Budget management experience. * Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL). Physical & Cognitive Demands The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position. * Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs. * This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. * The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. * Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills. Starting Salary Starting salary range for this position is $81,819 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position.
