HireStarter's client is an established leading Fintech company offering top-tier financial planning software globally. They are growing and looking to add an Accessibility Engineer to be their internal Subject Matter Expert. They offer a fun and relaxed office environment and an opportunity to learn about the financial services industry in the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, and Australia.

Responsibilities:
Develop Accessible Web Applications: Lead the charge in ensuring all web products meet or exceed WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) standards. Your work will directly contribute to making our applications usable by individuals with a wide range of abilities.
Inclusive Design Consulting: Serve as the go-to expert on accessibility, advising on inclusive design principles and ensuring accessibility considerations are integrated from the earliest stages of product development.
Collaboration and Implementation: Work closely with design and development teams to transform wireframes into accessible, functional web applications. Your expertise will bridge the gap between design and technical implementation.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and address accessibility issues within our codebase, advocating for best practices in accessibility across the team.
Mentorship and Advocacy: Educate and mentor team members on web accessibility principles, tools, and testing methodologies. Champion accessibility initiatives within the company and the broader tech community.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
Accessibility Expertise: Demonstrable experience with WCAG, ARIA, and other accessibility standards.
Experience working with assistive technologies such as screen readers and keyboard navigation. Certification in web accessibility (e.g., IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist) is a plus.
API Integration: Experience with web service APIs and integrating them into accessible applications.
Agile Development: Thrives in a non-structured agile environment, comfortable with rapid release cycles and continuous iteration.
Independent Initiative: Ability to drive product design forward, bringing creative insights and solutions to the table.
Team Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, with a knack for working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with a “Can-Do” Attitude.
