Core Services Engineering & Operations (CSEO) builds the products and services that Microsoft runs on and our CSEO Studio team is playing a critical role by bringing together expertise in design, research, and accessibility to create experiences that empower our fellow employees to achieve more in their lives. We are seeking a Principal Accessibility Program Manager to lead a team of accessibility experts who are committed to empowering CSEO product makers to create more accessible experiences for our users. Our accessibility team is responsible for establishing accessibility standards, developing and maintaining a holistic plan to increase accessibility within CSEO (including driving cultural change and accessibility training), and managing our accessibility testing and verification program. Leading by example is a critical skill for this role as well as influencing others, articulating a strong point of view, and working collaboratively with engineering partners at all levels.
Responsibilities

Manage a team of accessibility program managers to develop the standards, training, education, and guidance for accessibility in CSEO
Define and drive people management responsibilities for subject matter experts on your team, including being responsible for their professional growth

Develop and execute on strategic plans to drive accessibility, including programmatic, cultural, educational, and technical initiatives
Effectively communicate accessibility to peers, partners, stakeholders and executive leadership throughout the organization to drive change at scale
Create an inclusive and positive work environment/culture
Be a strong voice and influential leader for accessibility with your partners in CSEO and across the company, including legal teams, product teams, and accessibility leaders in other organizations

Qualifications

5+ years’ experience in Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion, and/or Inclusive Design
10+ years’ of proven engineering Program Management or Product Development, driving efforts across multiple disciplines and teams and/or 10+ years’ experience in Software Development, Software Development Management, or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in people management and leading design teams in complex design projects
BA/BS or equivalent

Ability to develop successful program(s) that drive cultural, engineering, technical, and organizational change within a highly ambiguous and cross-matrixed environment
Innate curiosity, data driven, and ability to self-start in an ambiguous and rapidly changing startup-like environment, growth mindset
Good problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically and agilely
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across diverse functions (Engineering, Research, Design, Program Management, Data & Marketing)
Exceptional written and verbal communication/presentation skills, with a track record of influencing stakeholders and partners at all levels
