Communications Manager - Accessibility

Accessibility is a key part of Microsoft’s mission to empower people and organizations to achieve more. Our team partners across the company to make that vision a reality for people with disabilities. We’re looking for an experienced Executive Communications Manager who is passionate about creative storytelling and ensuring engaging, compelling, and relevant communications. This Redmond-based role will help manage both internal and external executive communications for the Chief Accessibility Officer of Microsoft and be a key contributor to how we communicate about Microsoft accessibility efforts holistically. The role will contribute to speeches/keynotes, customer/partner presentations, social media, PR-engagements, as well as internal communications and events (All Hands, Town Halls, newsletters, org communications guidelines). In addition to driving the broad communications strategy for the CAO, this person will support communications, content and materials for other key Accessibility initiatives such as our partnership with the sales teams, Inclusive Hiring, NGO strategies, etc.
Responsibilities

Help manage communications and executive platform aligned to strategic priorities of the accessibility program at Microsoft



Collaborate with teams inside the organization as well as across our business partners in Sales/Field, Finance, Engineering, Marketing, HR, and Corporate Communications to gather data and content for internal communications and external presentations



Create executive level briefing materials, scripting/messaging for internal and external keynotes and presentations customer, partner and internal events.



Create communications for employees across channels (email, video, Teams) – driving and enabling regularity in communications



Align messaging to corporate and TCR narratives.



Contribute content to internal and external accessibility websites and channels.



Influence best practice for accessible accessibility storytelling, and nurture a community of storytellers, with alignment on messaging



Contribute to social and digital branding on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and blogs



Partner with Corporate Communications leads on briefings for media engagements, and supporting briefings for analyst engagements

Qualifications

A successful candidate is likely to have a strong working knowledge of content accessibility, and a proven track record of disability inclusion is preferred



Good eye for graphic design and multi-media creative (PowerPoint, Sway, videos, etc.)



5+ years communications, public relations, marketing or executive communications experience



3 + years of disability inclusion and accessibility experience or similar diversity and inclusion experience preferred



Desired Skills and Attributes:



Understanding of Microsoft’s solutions and products, including customers and partner ecosystem
Business maturity and experience working with senior executives preferable
Exceptional messaging and writing skills
Know how to leverage multiple channels to land meaningful communications (events, video, social, PR, etc.)
Great attention to detail and ensures accuracy in all communications deliverables, regularity and adherence to deadlines for RoB
Strong cross-group collaboration skills and ability to drive coordination across all levels and stakeholders
Growth mindset and a pre-disposition to learning culture
Ability to manage multiple communication projects simultaneously and hold others accountable.
Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with ability to adapt plans and approaches real-time
