Web Developer/Designer- Joomla5

We are seeking a talented and motivated Web Designer/Developer with expertise in Joomla 5 to join our team remotely. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and developing responsive, user-friendly, and aesthetically appealing websites. Prior experience working in higher education institutions is strongly preferred, as the role will involve creating and maintaining websites that support educational and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain websites using Joomla 5 for various projects.
Collaborate with content managers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into high-quality web designs.
Create visually appealing and functional user interfaces with a focus on user experience (UX) and accessibility.
Customize Joomla 5 templates, components, modules, and plugins to meet specific project needs.
Ensure websites are responsive, optimized for various devices, and compatible with modern web browsers.
Perform regular updates, security patches, and troubleshooting to ensure the smooth functioning of websites.
Integrate third-party services, databases, and APIs as needed.
Work closely with IT and other departments to ensure data security and compliance with web standards.
Monitor website performance and implement improvements for SEO and site speed optimization.
Provide ongoing support and training for non-technical staff to manage content within Joomla 5.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Proven experience with Joomla 5 development, including customization of templates, modules, and plugins.
Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP.
Experience with responsive design, UX/UI best practices, and cross-browser compatibility.
Familiarity with SEO principles and tools.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve website issues efficiently.
Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 or higher).
Familiarity with higher education web requirements, including accessibility, compliance, and information architecture (preferred).
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Experience with other content management systems (CMS) is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in higher education, understanding of university/college website needs.
Knowledge of web analytics and ability to track and report on website performance.
Familiarity with database management, particularly MySQL.
