SENIOR USER EXPERIENCE DESIGNER, MIT Open Learning-Products and Engineering Department, to join a small, fast-growing team with big ambitions to redefine the use of technology in teaching and learning at MIT and beyond. Will collaborate with key business and academic constituents and developers to advance projects from concept to completion, design actionable and effective paths for learners and educators, ensure a consistent overall experience, and provide a coherent platform for future enhancements. Responsibilities include creating world-class, user-centered designs through consideration of competitive research, business requirements, customer feedback, and usability study findings; ensuring the experience is usable, useful, desirable and supports critical business, brand, and learner/educator goals; translating business requirements into use cases and high-level customer experience requirements; designing the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of new web and mobile applications; leading the design, development, and maintenance of site or tool information architecture and navigation consistency for the integration of new features in collaboration with business and development teams; and developing conceptual flows, diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes to facilitate communication of designs to and gather feedback from partners/stakeholders.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least five years’ experience designing complex, data rich applications for web and mobile; strong portfolio of work showing interaction and visual design artifacts such as high-fidelity wireframes, screen comps, functional prototypes, and design patterns; proficiency with CSS, HTML, and design software tools; ability to prioritize and adhere to deadlines while managing multiple projects and to communicate clearly, persuasively, and diplomatically to a wide range of audiences; experience using qualitative user research methods; attention to detail; and comfort with ambiguity.
