Leads the development and creation of the user experience for digital platforms by developing and executing studies while working effectively within technical, creative, and budgetary constraints. Creates and facilitates workshops and other research methods to understand user needs and translate them into project requirements that adhere to brand and usability standards. Leads the 508 Accessibility compliance process through establishing and maintaining guidelines, remediation and educating development staff. Reviews and analyzes feedback and data from research sessions, literature reviews and incorporates these findings into their decision process to make strategic decisions that align to corporate goals.

Responsibilities

Develops, conducts, analyzes, and presents findings from a variety of design and usability research initiatives on current applications and for future initiatives
Develops and maintains usability and accessibility (508) and design standards based on research outcomes, WCAG 2.1 A and AAA standards and industry best practices
Prioritizes work and methods of research for all agile projects assigned to them and also other team members by working closely with stakeholders and team members
Create deliverables including graphics, wireframes and prototypes for projects while following all design and UX standards
Facilitates user testing studies to inform, improve and validate user designs
Review’s deliverables, sites and apps to ensure they are meeting design and usability standards
Conducts 508 Accessibility evaluations both manual and automated for applications to ensure compliance, recommends solutions for remediation and reports on compliance metrics to leadership
Conducts training on accessibility requirements and tools to enable development teams to sustain the compliance of our applications while developing new features


Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, graphic design, business or related field or equivalent experience
5 years of combined User Experience and UI development Experience
1 year mentoring or coaching other team members
Basic understanding of design principles and best practices for usability
Familiarity with systems development life cycle
Strong presentation, facilitation, and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript
Ability to conduct research techniques such as: usability testing, card sorting and contextual inquiry
Advanced understanding of User Centered Design process and experience
Understanding of web, mobile and responsive applications
Possesses critical and creative thinking skills
