A Day in the Life…

Reporting to the Associate Director, Educational Development, the Senior Educational Developer, Accessibility and Inclusion is accountable for designing and administering programs and services that support accessible and inclusive pedagogical development in the Brock community, primarily for faculty, part-time Instructors and Teaching Assistants (TA).

As the Senior Educational Developer, Accessibility and Inclusion you will:

Manage and develop initiatives and projects that foster universal design, accessibility, equity, and inclusion in post-secondary education;
Work in partnership with Student Accessibility Services to foster equitable access to education across all campus partners;
Liaise with Human Rights and Equity (HRE), Career, Co-op, and Experiential Education, and Office of Research Services to ensure alignment with cross-campus support and initiatives;
Ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation, policies, and guidelines related to accessibility and inclusion, by educating, supporting, and socializing change with instructors, senior administrators, and instructional support staff;
Provide instructional strategies and assessment design programming for instructional staff related to Accessibility, Equity, and Inclusion;
Provide one-on-one consultations with faculty and instructors to support the implementation of accommodations in curriculum and assessment at the course level as needed;
Create digital learning environment resources related to accessible assessment, curriculum, and instruction;
Contribute to the creation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of institutional wide CPI programs and services for faculty and instructors, including conceptualizing new programming efforts, researching industry leading practices, and designing workshops;
Provide strategic and operational leadership, expertise, and direction in formulating, revising, and achieving internal goals for equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization related to instruction, such as those outlined in Brock’s Academic Plan, and in the Institutional Strategic Plan priority of fostering inclusivity, accessibility, reconciliation, and decolonization;
Lead the development and implementation of EDI teaching-related policies and practices for research throughout the University;
Maintain current expertise in EDI practices and policies for the scholarly teaching landscape at Canadian academic institutions, to support the ongoing development and implementation of leading practices at Brock;
Advise the Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning and senior leadership team on accessibility, equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization practices and processes in teaching;
Research, develop, coordinate, communicate, and implement resources to guide and support the implementation of EDI initiatives for teaching.

What you need to Succeed…

A Master’s degree in higher education or related field or equivalent experience.
Three (3) years in development and implementation of equity, diversity, and inclusion programs, including providing leadership for unit or institutional initiatives; and
Five (5) years’ professional experience executing numerous priorities and multiple projects;
Innovative and strategic thinker with a broad vision for the role of equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization in achieving teaching excellence;
A strong awareness of current EDI trends including legal and legislated frameworks;
Demonstrated understanding of systemic accessibility issues and of the legal and legislative frameworks related to EDI;
Collaborative leadership style and a demonstrated track record of taking initiative, leading complex projects;
Proven project-management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and achieve objectives;
Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals, including members of equity-deserving groups;
Ability to motivate, coach, mentor, and encourage colleagues to create and achieve strategic objectives;
Ability to masterfully gather and analyze data, assess needs, and deliver practical solutions that drive results;
Results-driven, self-directed, and detail-oriented with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines;

Preferred or Asset Skills:

Formal training or certification related to EDI;
Experience in a post-secondary environment;
Curriculum development or instructional experience.

Salary and Benefit Information

Job Grade L: $59,244- $80,833;*
Please note this position includes full comprehensive benefits, including tuition waiver.



* The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
