"We are looking for a Digital Accessibility Tester to join the client’s Digital Service team and support the State’s enterprise accessibility transformation initiative. In this role, you will perform manual accessibility testing on websites, applications, mobile apps, enterprise platforms, chatbots, forms, and legacy systems to ensure compliance with WCAG, ADA, and Section 508 standards.
You will create and execute test cases, maintain test libraries, identify accessibility issues, and clearly communicate remediation solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This role requires strong QA practices, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with developers, designers, administrators, and cross-functional agency teams to remediate accessibility barriers.
Your work will directly expand access to critical government services for all residents and support the State’s commitment to equity, inclusivity, and compliance with federal accessibility standards.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting manual accessibility testing of digital assets with assistive technologies
Auditing websites, applications, documents, and enterprise systems for compliance gaps
Creating and maintaining test cases, test libraries, and documentation
Clearly reporting findings and guiding remediation efforts across state and vendor teams
Supporting accessibility governance by maintaining test data, scoring, and compliance reporting
Mentoring and providing guidance to internal teams on accessibility testing methods and standards
Staying up to date with evolving accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA, Section 508)
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Web Development, Library or Informational Science, or HCI
3+ years of digital accessibility testing experience with assistive tech (NVDA, JAWS, Dragon, Fusion, ZoomText, VoiceOver, TalkBack, etc.)
Strong knowledge of HTML, ARIA, semantic markup, and responsive web design
Experience documenting accessibility issues and recommending remediation solutions
Demonstrated ability to explain technical accessibility issues to non-technical stakeholders
Experience testing business processes, enterprise systems, and content/document accessibility
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including mentoring experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Axe, WAVE, ARC Toolkit, SiteImprove, or similar accessibility tools
Familiarity with Sitecore, Salesforce, Adobe XD, Jira/Confluence
Experience in accessibility compliance for chatbots, digital forms, and analog formats (Word, PowerPoint, print assets)
Certifications such as IAAP CPACC/WAS, DHS Trusted Tester, Section 508, or Deque University
