Position Summary

This position’s core responsibility will be identifying and correcting accessibility issues for the Geneseo campus website. The person will also help coordinate and support the efforts of other campus members to participate in this activity.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Learn and understand the concepts and applications needed to correct accessibility issues on the Geneseo campus website. This would include web accessibility concepts, editing web pages via the campus Drupal content management system, and some basic web page technical concepts (e.g. HTML, images, etc.). Training will be provided for any gaps that are identified. The person would be responsible for completing the training and mastering the concepts.

Scanning the Geneseo website using a commercial tool to identify web page accessibility issues that need to be resolved. Creating and distributing accessibility reports to other web page editors.

Correcting accessibility issues that are identified. Coordinating and supporting efforts of campus web page editors to correct accessibility issues.

Assist in training campus web page editors on the use of web accessibility tools to correct accessibility problems.

Communicate with website owners on accessibility content issues, questions and corrective action.

Use assistive technology such as screen and text readers to assure accessibility of website using adaptive technology.

Prepare progress reports every six months for the Office of Civil Rights review as part of the College’s Corrective Action Plan.

This is a full-time position with an 18-month contract. There is no guarantee or intent the position would go beyond 18 months.
Required Qualifications

A minimum of two years college education or an Associate’s degree

Computer application experience with Microsoft Office, email clients, and Internet browsers

Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) and build positive relationships and work collaboratively and effectively with all stakeholders including faculty, staff, and students.

Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Experience with Drupal or comparable web content management system

Experience with HTML

Knowledge and experience with web accessibility and adaptive technologies
