CVS Health Digital aims to transform health and wellness via products that enable consumer engagement and a best-in-class experience. CVS Health Digital is currently taking on a major initiative to redesign and rebuild many of its customer facing digital assets. This effort will include a completely new approach to developing software within CVS Health, using the latest design approaches, technologies, and processes.

We are looking for a Principal Accessibility Architect (Native) with experience working in a fast-paced, startup like environment. As a leader on the A11y and Design Systems teams, you will work to define, architect and implement our Native a11y strategy. You’ll partner closely with Product, Design and Engineering stakeholders across the organization to help make our digital platforms and ecosystem more inclusive by driving A11y into a comprehensive shift left model. You will be an A11y champion across many teams, and will also work closely with leadership to mature the offering and ensure it exceeds the expectations of all customers and users.

Responsibilities

Develops Native A11y strategy and solution architecture and resolves complex issues in a variety of projects through the implementation of requirements analysis, expertise support, training and documentation.
Designs and implements Native A11y solution architecture, including system and application designs, software and technical architecture, in accordance with Native A11y strategy and objectives.
Drive investigations, develop proof of concepts, prototypes, make recommendations, and implement improvements around Native accessibility.
Strives for alignment with other enterprise-level initiatives across Client Architecture, Content, UX, UI, Engineering, UX Research, Product and others.
Initiates work reviews with senior members of the Design System team and advise on direction and solutions as related to accessibility.
Serve as mentor for junior members of the Design System accessibility team
Support UX Research efforts as it relates to gaining deeper understanding of our customers and evolve the ways in which we can support their needs through our digital products
Build in opportunities for inclusion wherever possible throughout work flows and process
Develop a scalable strategy for iOS and Android A11y education and training across Digital Design and Engineering teams.
Build and maintain working relationships with all CVS Health constituents, leading towards a defined goal of a fully accessible native experience.
Continually develop understanding of access technologies and the ways the community engages with them


Required Qualifications

10+ years experience in Digital Accessibility
5+ years experience with Native iOS and/or Android development
5+ years experience in a lead role, helping enterprise a11y initiatives come to life
Expert ability to interpret and advise on accessibility standards, principles, techniques and best practices (including WCAG 2.x, Revised Sec 508, WAI-ARIA, ATAG )
Expert knowledge of how applicable WCAG success criteria map to development requirements for Web, iOS and Android applications.
Experience with modern JavaScript libraries and tooling (e.g. React)
Expert knowledge of open source a11y tools and rulesets (e.g. axe-core)
Ability to think outside of the box and be innovative when it comes to scaling solutions to complex A11y problems.
Passion for building and helping others build accessible user interfaces
Commitment to meeting high expectations of end users
Strong knowledge of assistive technologies and a11y APIs
Experience leading large cross functional project management initiatives.
Advanced communication/presentation skills needed to represent your team with stakeholders and leadership


Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare experience.

Education
Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
