The Apple Online Store (AOS) is where tens of millions of customers buy iPhones, Macs, iPads and Watches every year. The AOS Frontend team is responsible for the foundation of every Apple customer’s shopping experience, building to meet the very highest standards of elegance, simplicity, and accessibility. Imagine what you could do here. Apple has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Web Accessibility Engineer in our Online Store Frontend Team. You will have validated experience in web technologies (such as HTML, JavaScript and CSS) as well as being an authority in Accessibility. You consider accessibility a basic human right and you want to work somewhere where people feel the same way. The role will involve working with many teams at a time on a variety of exciting projects and will require you to ensure the best output from each team.
Key Qualifications

In-depth knowledge and practical experience of web technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript
Knowledge and practical experience of implementing accessibility testing methodologies
Strong working knowledge of WCAG 2.x guidelines and WAI-ARIA
Ability to provide accessible code solutions using web technologies
Excellent knowledge and understanding of macOS and iOS VoiceOver and other accessibility features
Strong first-hand experience in testing with assistive technologies (including screen readers such as VoiceOver, JAWS and NVDA)
Familiarity with accessibility features on mobile devices
Familiarity with project management methodologies such as waterfall and Agile
Experience in software engineering
Aptitude for independently learning new technologies
Demonstrable experience in building strong working relationships with others
Ability to work on multiple projects and manage a dynamic working environment
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

E-commerce sites are notoriously complex to run, and thanks to the Apple Online Store’s unique design requirements, focus on privacy & security, and sheer scale, our site is no exception. If you have a fresh pair of eyes and want to make a real difference on the key entry point for the entire Apple ecosystem, we’d love to talk to you. The team is looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual, who is able to act as an accessibility expert as well as a product owner for internal tools. You will need to audit new and existing internal and external solutions, work with teams throughout the entire lifecycle of a project on new features and solutions, liaise and co-ordinate with various functions, and represent the team positively and effectively at all times. You will be a pragmatic and trustworthy individual, able to promote the best results whilst also nurturing positive relationships with all those you work with. Previous industry experience with an emphasis on accessibility would be an advantage.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience.
