This position is located under the Public and Governmental Affairs, Digital Media Division in Washington, District of Columbia.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Web Accessibility SME providing assistance and advice on the establishment of electronic information technology (EIT) accessibility polices, plans and programs.
As a Web Accessibility Specialist, GS-1001-12, your typical work assignments may include:
Assisting in the development of policies and procedures, to ensure reliability and accessibility of EIT systems, websites and digital publications;
Assessing and conducting remediation on complex systems, documents, publications, graphics, videos and web content for Section 508 compliance;
Preventing deployment of inaccessible EIT systems, websites, data and content;
Leading trainings on accessibility and remediation;
Participating in inspections and surveys of EIT systems, online tools, websites, publications, and digital communications.

MOBILITY PLAN: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement. Additional Conditions of Employment:
GS-12 - You qualify if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal, State, or Local government or equivalent public or private sector experience, performing the following duties:
applying communication, programming, and project management skills to develop accessible content for the web; and
performing technical writing, software development, or user interface (UI) design; and
utilizing knowledge of web accessibility and familiarity with assistive technologies and design compliance standards to audit websites & web applications, test user interfaces against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and provide consultation on effectively implementing remediations; and
creating new documentation and training materials, mentoring staff, and managing and implementing web accessibility best practices and policies.
Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
