EIT Accessibility Coordinator

Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The EIT Accessibility Coordinator will provide expertise, technical direction, assessment, and implementation support to VCU with the goal of bringing technologies university-wide into compliance with state and federal
technology accessibility requirements.
Minimum Hiring Standards
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, instructional technology, educational
leadership or related field. Equivalent experience may substitute.
Strong understanding and demonstrated knowledge of HTML and web publishing technologies.
Ability to author accessible digital media including word processing documents, presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, video and audio.
Strong understanding of the Section 508 Accessibility Guidelines and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.
Strong understanding and demonstrated knowledge of assistive hardware and software technologies.
Ability to independently identify and report on user needs.
Knowledge of distance education technology.
Ability to organize and lead meaningful meetings, maintain meeting minutes, action items and documentation.
Excellent communication skills required. Ability to communicate, both oral and written, technical information to novice computer users.
Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and present information in a meaningful manner to groups of various sizes.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to work effectively with other information technology staff.
Basic knowledge of Unix and MS Windows operating systems.
Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively.
Preferred Hiring Standards
Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, instructional technology, educational leadership or related field.
Demonstrated experience with enterprise level web content management systems. Experience with Terminal Four’s Site Manager web content management system.
Understanding and experience with enterprise learning management systems.
Experience with web governance software such as SiteImprove.
Demonstrated experience in project management.
Experience in an academic environment.
Salary Range: $50000 - $75000
