Location: Anywhere in Canada (Toronto/GTA, Montreal or Waterloo area preferred, but flexible)

Our Client:


Our client is a leader in the insurance/group benefits space, and is seeking an experienced Web Accessibility Specialist (with expertise in Web Accessibility (WCAG)/AODA), to join their team!


The Role:


The Accessibility Specialist will work with 3-4 Agile teams to clear their backlog of accessibility related defects, and then help the teams shift their accessibility practices to avoid future issues.


Responsibilities:


Support business partners and project teams on the development of accessible websites, mobile applications, and digital documents
Conduct accessibility evaluation on web, mobile, PDF, and other digital documents and present findings and accessibility recommendations for business stakeholders
Support the UX Design phase by conducting accessibility assessments and participating in design reviews of websites, apps and design assets by providing early accessibility feedback
Perform assistive technology testing using JAWS, JAWS Inspect, Voice Over, and other tools


Requirements:


5 + years of professional, hands-on front end development experience
Proficiency with web accessibility (AODA) guidelines, accessibility tools, and assistive technologies
Working towards the Web Accessibility Specialist credential from IAAP
Proficiency with Bootstrap or similar frameworks such as Foundation
Proficiency with developer tools and debugging techniques
Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS/SCSS, Webpack, XML/JSON
Expertise in developing accessible & responsive web design and testing across multiple browsers, devices and platforms
Keep up to date with trends and changes in the Accessibility space
Experience working with teams to analyze and contribute ideas to production discussions, designs and decisions



Nice to Have:


Experience with Design Systems (Storybook.js, etc.)
Experience with web development stacks including Parsley.js, AXIOS, react-bootstrap, React Context, Node.js etc.
Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager
Experience with Git, Bitbucket, and SourceTree
