Purdue University is looking for an individual to help build capacity across campus to proactively address the usability of instructional materials and media for disabled students with a focus on supporting faculty as a Usable Materials Center (UMC) Coordinator. As the Usable Materials Center Coordinator there will be a need to determines and oversee a workflow for production of materials in a timely manner for faculty to ensure an inclusive educational experience in accordance with federal and state laws. Serves as subject matter expert for faculty in accessible materials and media; conducts instructor workshops and provides individual and small group consultations and trainings with instructors and staff. Represents the Usable Materials Center on committees and promotes usable course design in campus and community events.

Required:
    Bachelor’s Degree in related field like graphic design, information technology, etc.
    Three years professional work experience required, with two years of student affairs within a higher education setting, or at least one year of education or training experience
    Experience in supervision and leadership of student workers
    Demonstrated experience in document conversion or experience with some of the common tools used including Microsoft Office; Adobe Acrobat; screen reading software (e.g. JAWS, Read & Write Gold, Narrator); OCR software (e.g. Abbyy fine reader) or products from Freedom Scientific
    Ability to research implication of new trends and applies to the work of the UMC
    Ability to managing workflow to skills/experience
    Gains knowledge of latest trends in higher education disability services with a specific focus on accessibility and alternate formats
    Ability to analyze, interpret, implement, and communicate University policies and procedures
    Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
    Excellent planning, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, project management, financial analysis, supervisory, and customer service skills
    Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
    Must be able to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes accountability, respect, and teamwork to successfully guide the work of others
    Demonstrate originality, creativity, and ability to resolve complex issues daily
