About the role:

The Accessibility Program Manager supports Cruise’s efforts to develop an accessible autonomous vehicle (AV) that supports the full diversity of riders in our first market of San Francisco, with the opportunity to scale to other markets. This highly organized and detail oriented individual will coordinate cross-functional teams to pursue our accessibility north star. The Accessibility Program Manager will also cultivate strong relationships with disability advocates, consultants, and relevant organizations dedicated to inclusivity and accessibility. In this role, you’ll also help translate the expectations of riders/users with disabilities into product requirements that map to our feature roadmaps and to regulatory requirements. Lastly, you will help write Cruise’s story on accessibility that can be shared externally and represent Cruise in public forums, conferences, and with key stakeholders as needed.

This position is ideal for someone with advocacy or regulatory experience as well as expertise and passion for emerging technologies and accessibility. This role will report to the Director of Public Affairs.
Responsibilities:

Manage relationships with disability organizations and advocates, including new and existing relationship cultivation
Develop champions for AVs from the disability community and lead community engagement for people with disabilities in new markets as part of new market strategy
Develop thought leadership on Cruise’s approach to accessibility
Collaborate with product teams to support strategic product vision and accessibility feature roadmap by advising on feature ideas, feature priorities, and detailed requirements
Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to conduct vital research and organize feedback
Build internal principles around accessibility to socialize and advise cross-functionally

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Proven track record of advocacy, partnership building, and/or managing a successful consumer-facing accessibility program
Expertise in accessibility standard methodologies, guidelines, & regulation, and a strong awareness of assistive technologies available to people with disabilities
Ability to use quantitative and qualitative feedback to form insights that drive actions
Ability to remain flexible and thrive in ambiguity
Ability to identify and act on process improvements to enhance efficiency
Ability to collaborate and communicate efficiently across teams

Tech or start up experience
Expertise in universal design, especially in tech or transportation
Cross-sector experience with government agencies, advocacy organizations, and research universities
