Opportunity at a Glance
In this position, you will serve as a resource to Chamberlain University's students and faculty in accessing library resources virtually.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares short- and long-term recommendations for our library that are thorough, timely, accurate, and cost-effective. These recommendations include but are not limited to new resource acquisitions and new and/or improved services.
Prepares recommendations for library services provided to students that will enhance information literacy objectives. These recommendations include but are not limited to library services integration into Canvas, development of information literacy instruction models for students and new and/or improved online library services.
Evaluates instructional resources for potential to enhance online instruction. Makes recommendations that are evidence-based and cost-effective.
Assists in ensuring that the library and the information services for which the library is responsible meet accreditation standards.
Serves as liaison between the library and appropriate programs within Chamberlain University. Promotes library services to appropriate groups.
Provides regular detailed reports of library services activities.
Provides efficient and effective virtual reference and research services through Springshare’s LibApps platform, including virtual chat, appointments, and workshops.
Participates effectively in the development and implementation of library orientation and instructional programs. Participates effectively in informal and formal instruction in database searching and library skills.
Keeps current in the library and information science field through reading and attendance at professional meetings and training programs as funding permits. Participates in professional organizations.
Shifts includes evenings and weekends.
Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves technical issues for library users via an online ticketing system.
Serves as backup liaison to vendors of electronic resources and subscriptions.
Administers and maintains the Springshare suite. Designs, develops, and maintains the library website as informed by analytics, user feedback and usability testing, and best practices for website design and accessibility.
Ensures the library website adheres to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Resolves accessibility issues flagged in automated evaluation tools. Conducts manual accessibility audits, including evaluating code, identifying issues, and providing actionable feedback. Serves as liaison to accessibility working group.
Maintains awareness of emerging technologies and trends.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
ALA-accredited Master's degree in library science/library and information science
Minimum two years experience in an academic library, hospital library, or other professional library settings required
Familiarity with ExLibris Primo, LibApps, and Microsoft Office
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated teaching skills, preferably in an online setting
Ability to work well with a diverse range of users in a virtual environment
Must be student focused and dedicated to supporting a robust virtual student experience
Ability to assist library users with technical issues in a fast-paced, virtual customer service environment
Demonstrated experience in website design, user interface design, user research, mobile applications, and content management systems
Must possess working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and ARIA
Must possess working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and Section 508
Familiarity with accessibility evaluation tools and assistive technologies
Familiarity with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integrations and learning management systems

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $47766.34 and $86253.75. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
