Position Overview
As an Accessibility Auditor at Zenyth, you will play a critical role in auditing websites and native mobile applications to ensure they meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. Your work will involve thorough documentation, utilization of various testing tools, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the accessibility of digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Auditing: Conduct comprehensive audits of websites and native mobile applications to ensure they comply with WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.
Documentation: Thoroughly document findings in a clear and consistent manner, providing actionable recommendations for remediation.
Tool Utilization: Use a variety of automated and semi-automated testing tools, such as WAVE, ARC Toolkit, aXe browser extension, and ANDI, to identify and catalog WCAG defects.
Code Evaluation: Evaluate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code to identify accessibility issues and suggest fixes.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers, project managers, and other auditors on multiple projects simultaneously.
Communication: Effectively communicate via video conferencing (Zoom), Slack, and email.
Peer Review: Review and provide constructive feedback on teammates' auditing and documentation work.
Required Skills and Qualifications
WCAG 2.1 Expertise: Excellent knowledge and practical application of WCAG 2.1 guidelines on websites and native mobile applications.
Assistive Technologies: Intermediate level familiarity with VoiceOver, TalkBack, JAWS, NVDA, screen magnification software, and voice-to-text.
Testing Tools: Familiarity with automated and semi-automated testing tools.
HTML: Advanced knowledge, particularly in the correct semantic usage of HTML.
CSS & JavaScript: Basic familiarity.
ARIA: Intermediate knowledge of ARIA 1.1 specification and ARIA patterns.
Team Player: Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
Communication: Excellent English communication skills and the ability to convey complex or technical information clearly.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Process Adherence: Ability to follow process documentation and instructions.
Learning Agility: Willingness to acquire new skills related to accessibility.
Desired Skills
Advanced ARIA: Advanced knowledge of ARIA 1.1 specification and ARIA patterns.
CSS & JavaScript: Intermediate to advanced knowledge.
CMS Backends: Familiarity with Shopify, BigCommerce, Webflow, and WordPress.
E-commerce & Mobile Apps: Experience auditing e-commerce websites and native mobile applications.
3rd Party Content: Familiarity with accessibility issues related to third-party embeds, plugins, and iframes, and the ability to determine when content has been generated from them.
Timezone Expectations
At Zenyth, our core working hours are between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST). We value collaboration and believe that overlapping work hours are essential for effective communication and teamwork. Therefore, we expect all employees to have a minimum of 5-6 hours of work time that overlaps with our core hours.
This ensures that you can actively participate in team meetings, collaborate on projects, and be available for any urgent tasks or discussions that may arise during these hours. If you are in a different timezone, please consider this requirement carefully to ensure that you can commit to this overlap before applying for the position.
