CGI Federal's Accessibility Practice is searching for the next member to join our CGI family. As part of CGI Federal's Consulting Applications, Solutions, and Technology (CAST) Emerging Technology Practices (ETP), Accessibility Practice members provide digital accessibility subject matter expertise, design and testing support to teams across CGI Federal and CGI.
Accessibility Practice members are internal consultants to CGI product teams as well as our client-facing consulting teams; we independently advise and assess the digital accessibility of our solutions in support of IT development and maintenance projects across the federal government. Our team is passionate about digital inclusion, dedicated to improving universal access to systems and information, and committed to sharing lessons learned with the accessibility community and our CGI members.

Your future duties and responsibilities
A qualified candidate will have three to five years of experience supporting Federal and/or commercial clients in conducting digital accessibility testing, retesting, and remediation of web sites, web applications, and electronic documents.
They must:

Have a solid understanding of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) accessibility principles, guidelines, and standards (Section 508, WCAG) and where to find relevant information in supporting technical specifications (HTML, WAI-ARIA)
Have hands-on experience using semi-automated accessibility testing tools (e.g., Deque's axe accessibility testing extension for Chrome), manual evaluation tools (SSA's ANDI, TPG's Colour Contrast Analyser) as well as keyboard only, and Section 508 functional performance testing with assistive technologies (AT) such as the JAWS screen reader.
Have experience creating and/or reviewing Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) deliverables based on the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) reporting format.
Know the basic fundamentals of front-end development, ideally when it comes to developing Angular web-based applications
Be willing to complete Udemy's Master Angular development course training upon hire (training to be procured by CGI)


DEVELOPER RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Digital Accessibility Developer/Tester you will analyze backlogs, identify root causes for accessibility issues, and code issue fixes. You will also support product and/or project development teams to help them understand accessibility concepts and evolve their development processes to better prevent accessibility issues in the future. You will help to develop, customize and maintain design pattern and component libraries documenting agreed upon best practices and code samples to make accessibility more "accessible" to other developers. In this role, you will be expected to diplomatically influence product directions, technical roadmaps and development processes to integrate accessibility across the emerging products and solutions under development in or supported by CGI Federal's Emerging Technology Practices.
Upon hire, you will be expected to complete Udemy's Master Angular development course within 30 days of your start date. Once this course has been completed, your responsibilities will include:

Works as part of the Accessibility Practice to support various CGI Federal product teams, delivery teams and clients in meeting their digital inclusion objectives.
Independently fixes accessibility issues within an Angular code environment.
Customizes Angular libraries to make them accessible.
Understands and addresses accessibility issues across the organization, and supports engineering teams in their efforts to address current bugs and prevent new ones.
As needed, leads technical solutioning and design working sessions to determine technical approach to 508 Epics and defects.

TESTER RESPONSIBILITIES
When not providing development support, you will be expected to conduct digital accessibility testing and consulting. Your responsibilities will include:

Independently conduct digital accessibility testing following Accessibility Practice's testing methodology and test cases using a combination of semi-automated testing tools, manual evaluation tools as well as keyboard only, and Section 508 functional performance testing with assistive technologies (AT).
Clearly document testing results and identified accessibility issues.
Create and/or review Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) deliverables based on the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) reporting format.

OTHER POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending upon business needs, your responsibilities may also include:

Helps teams to apply inclusive design best practices early (in the design process) through solid understanding of design patterns and the ability to provide guidance that leads to productive experiences for everyone.
Educates teams on new standards and evolves best practices and knowledge of different disability segments through customer engagements and usability studies.
Raises awareness about accessibility across the organization through training and speaker opportunities, building knowledge repositories, and creation and fostering of internal communities and champions that can help teams achieve their accessibility goals.
Actively participates in Program Increment (PI) Planning sessions and provides input on the PI Backlog during Product Management collaboration sessions.
Participates in requirements gathering and analysis efforts with the client as needed.
Is present at and participates in all Agile Release Train (ART) ceremonies (Scrum of Scrums, Product Owner Sync, Technical Syncs, PI Planning, Inspect and Adapt), and Agile team ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand ups, retrospectives).

Effectively communicate accessibility requirements and issues in writing as well as verbally in meetings with internal and external clients
Produce high-quality work products that meet or exceed client expectations
Deliver tasks on time and on budget
Consistently build and maintain positive relationships with others, relating well to all kinds of individuals across CGI and the client organizations


Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Basic knowledge of Angular (NOT AngularJS). The program is currently using Angular 10
3-5 years of experience with digital accessibility consulting
3-5 years of experience with accessibility standards and specifications, including:
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA)
Section 508 Compliance
3-5 years of experience in assistive technologies and screen readers.
3-5 years of experience with accessibility standards for all platforms (web, mobile, desktop) and how they apply to products and services.
1+ years writing in JavaScript or TypeScript
1+ years writing CSS
1+ years writing HTML
Experience in responsive web design
Must be very familiar with web components or have experience building them. (Angular components are based on foundational web components)
Experience in Libraries such as Bootstrap 4 or Material
Experience in repositories such as GitHub, BitBucket, SVN, etc.
Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools, and continuous integration using Maven and Jenkins
Agile Development knowledge and experience, preferably in a Scaled Agile setting


Desired Qualifications

Certified as a DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester Version 5 (TTV5)
Active certification with the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP)
Experience remediating accessibility issues.
Experience with external Angular libraries, including:
Ngx-bootstrap 6
Ngx-spinner 10
Okta-angular 3
Okta-signin-widget 5
Able to create a project using Angular CLI and use Angular CLI (Command Line Interface)
Experience integrating accessibility testing in an automated testing environment
Experience with accessibility APIs in Windows desktop development/mobile experience (Android and iOS).
Experience with accessibility APIs in web development.
