Junior Web Accessibility Specialist

Perspective Tester

Philadelphia, PA,UNITED STATES

Salary Range Estimate: $36000 - $60000

We're a small, tight-knit accessibility company on a mission to make the web work for everyone. Our clients range from county governments and state agencies to universities and Fortune 500 companies. We are passionate about what we do and we hold ourselves to a high standard. We are changing the way our industry operates. Accessibility is a big problem that needs innovation. Our core team develops the technology and efficiencies that will actually make the web accessible. If that sounds like your kind of place, keep reading.
We are looking for someone early in their career who is already impressive. You are a natural problem-solver who lights up when confronted with something they've never seen before, figures it out anyway, and moves on to the next one. You don't need to have every answer. You need to be the kind of person who will find it.

What You'll Do

You'll be working across a variety of client environments but mostly working on basic small government websites. You will need to be able to test for accessibility barriers and remediate the underlying code to bring it into compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards. No two days look exactly alike.
• Manually test websites using screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and keyboard-only navigation
• Identify and remediate accessibility issues in HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Collaborate with the team on complex remediation challenges — and bring your own creative thinking to the table
• Stay current on WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA standards, evolving browser behavior, and assistive technology updates
• Manage your own workload and deliverables with minimal hand-holding. We trust you to get things done

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is sharp, curious, and scrappy. The skills you need, we can help refine. The instincts, you need to already have. This company is about optimism. If you do not have a positive attitude toward life you will not succeed in this environment.
• Strong foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — you understand how the web is built
• Comfort reading and working in code across multiple languages and frameworks, even unfamiliar ones
• A genuine problem-solving orientation. You find bugs satisfying to hunt and even more satisfying to fix
• The ability to work independently and remotely without needing constant direction
• Clear written communication skills in English
• Curiosity about how assistive technology works and a desire to understand the user experience behind the code
