Position Title: Accessibility Coordinator Department: Student Accessibility Services
Reports To: Assistant Vice Provost of Student Support Services
Position Summary: The Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating accommodations for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with university policies and federal regulations, and supporting the academic and personal success of students. This role involves reviewing accommodation requests, collaborating with faculty and staff, and providing direct support to students.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and approve accommodations for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with ADA and other relevant legislation.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement appropriate accommodations and provide guidance on best practices.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of student accommodations and communications.
Conduct intake meetings with students to assess needs and develop individualized accommodation plans.
Provide ongoing support and advocacy for students with disabilities, including academic coaching and skill-building.
Assist in developing training and resources for faculty and staff on disability awareness and inclusive teaching practices.
Participate in campus-wide initiatives to promote accessibility and inclusivity.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
At least two years of experience in disability services, academic support, or a related area.
Knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and other relevant disability laws and regulations.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
